Casa Estudio Sabinos in Querétaro, Mexico by Juan Carlos Loyo Arquitectura

Sunday, March 25th, 2018

Article source: Juan Carlos Loyo Arquitectura

Thanks to the semi-desert climate of the state of Querétaro we were able to use local materials and traditional construction methods to achieve the micro-climatic conditions that —together with a modern aesthetic and notion of the current space— resulted in a place where elements bring together an enviable atmosphere. Juan Carlos Loyo Arquitectura is concerned about the environment and always makes sure their projects contain native materials as feedstock, on this occasion constructing an extraordinary house that connects perfectly with the climate and environment of the site.

Friday, March 23rd, 2018

Article source: Pablo Padin Arquiteto

The Reserva House is a unifamiliar house, located in a gated community near São Paulo megalopolis, in the industrial city of Jundiaí. The idea of the Project consists in promoting the Family gathering. Its lower floor is a social open space that looks outside to the tropical garden that surrounds the building. The large span slab creates big spaces without partitions. It was used a reinforced concrete grid structure system, not very common in unifamiliar houses, that gives an industrial signature to the construction.

Article source: SUSANNA COTS INTERIOR DESIGN

The keynote of the kitchen is found in the design of the ceiling, made up of slats of lacquered MDF, white like the rest of the kitchen units, that are integrated with the lighting and accompany us naturally to the exterior to enjoy the dining area. The designer plays with the sensation of being “in suspension” along with the outside.

The Glade in Guernsey by DLM Architects

Friday, March 23rd, 2018

Article source: DLM Architects

The brief was to create an energy efficient and sustainable new build family home on a densely planted site in St Peter Port, Guernsey. Due to a number of protected trees and the high quality of natural landscape within an urban setting, the site was heavily restricted by the local planning department. After 4 years negotiating with planning, a solution was found that complied with the relevant policies and alleviated the concerns of the planners.  The building was designed to minimise overlooking to and from neighbouring properties, and maximise natural light and solar gain, whilst avoiding the numerous root protection areas of the surrounding trees and maintaining a proportionate footprint to the previous development on site.
