V’ House in Maastricht
, The Netherlands by Wiel Arets Architects

Saturday, August 27th, 2016

Article source: Wiel Arets Architects

V’ House was constructed for a couple that collects vintage cars, and is stitched within the medieval tapestry of Maastricht. The city dictates all new structures remain within the envelope of pre-existing buildings, and so a cut was created in the house’s front façade to generate a triangulated surface, which leads from one neighbor’s sloped roof to the opposite neighbor’s vertical bearing wall. As the house’s site is long and narrow, voids were cut into the maximum permitted volume to ensure that natural light spills throughout the interior. The ground floor is both open to the exterior elements and sunken to the rear of the site, which makes possible the maximum two-story height allowance. A covered portion of this exterior space serves as an outdoor parking garage for the owners’ collection of Aston Martins.

Two Family House in Savyon, Israel by Israelevitz Architects

Friday, August 26th, 2016

Article source: Israelevitz Architects

The connections system, between the exterior and the interior as well as the different areas of the house, was at the core of the plan designed by architects Hila and Danny Israelevitz for a house in Savyon, Israel. The result: a house to be discovered, which is not read at once but in stages, while creating a discovery experience, changing interests and sensations.

The owners of the house, which is located in Savyon, came to architects Hila and Dan Israelevitz with a reasonably standard program, with no wild whimsies – all they wanted was a modern house which is open to the outside, functional and convenient for everyday conduct, and suitable for their lifestyle as a family with three children. The chemistry was immediate, and so was the first sketch by architects Israelevitz, which was, actually, the only sketch. “The house owners’ wishes were in line with our concept that the house needs to first and foremost be used suitably for those living in it, and that was the purpose. To create a house which fills the needs of its inhabitants, and at the same time creates and highlights feelings beyond any aspect of time, fashion, or architecture alone”.

My home and office in Florence, Italy by Silvia

Friday, August 26th, 2016

Article source: Silvia

Architect Silvia Allori renewed an apartment designed in the 70s by a Florentine architect, who thought of a space on a human scale in every single detail. The white laminate is predominant, and it has been used playfully on the walls of the living room to hide cabinets, a table, neon lights and plasters, which are never exposed.

Torcuato House Pavilion in Buenos Aires, Argentina by Besonias Almeida arquitectos

Thursday, August 25th, 2016

Article source: Besonias Almeida arquitectos

The Commission

The commission arises from the principals need to have an enclosure where they can be isolated from the activity of the house, and then facilitate the development of functions more relaxed and much more connected with the landscape. It was to be an indeterminate space, since its use would also be indeterminate, but it should be comfortable in both winter and summer. This brief program was rounded off with the request of an outdoor bath and a small warehouse.

The place chosen for location by the principals is the farthest from the house, next to the existing evergreen trees sector on the lot.
