gré Square House in Shizuoka, Japan by suzuki architects

Thursday, June 14th, 2018

Article source: suzuki architects

This combined home and business sits on the skirts of Nihondaira, a hilly area just outside central Shizuoka City. The neighborhood is a mixture of large old farmhouses, tea fields, and new housing developments, with small shops nestled into the laid-back surroundings. The streets curve slightly as they climb gently toward the hills, as if they were built on top of the old paths between fields. They lead, too, to openings where Mt. Fuji suddenly comes into view. It is in just such a spot that this house is located.

David’s Apartment in Yerevan, Armenia by Storaket Architectural Studio

Wednesday, June 13th, 2018

Article source: Storaket Architectural Studio

The apartment is located in the central part of Yerevan and has a beautiful view. The style of the apartment is a mix of French classic and contemporary design. The apartment has an expansive and open space kitchen, living and dining areas, two bedrooms, and a special reading room linked to the main bedroom. Access to living room and bedrooms is through two hallways which also expand towards the main and guest bathroom. The living area is divided from the kitchen by a large stone covered island which is one of the leading design elements of the apartment. The eye-catching mix of two extremely different styles is visible everywhere in the apartment. One of the main contrasts is the moldings that frame the ceiling which houses high tech and exposed lighting, audio and video systems. The windows around the dining area imitate French balconies. There is also one balcony near the living area. The apartment is full of light and the general color is a slightly off-white shade for the walls which creates a nice background for the furniture to stand out and gives an opportunity to change the apartment mood by adding or removing furniture elements.

Copenhagen Spirit in Moscow, Russia by buro5

Wednesday, June 13th, 2018

Article source: buro5

The client has lived in Copenhagen for many years, so he feels comfortable in a minimalistic interior and without curtains on the windows.

During his life in Copenhagen, the owner of this Moscow apartment was accustomed to a laconic atmosphere and the absence of curtains on the windows, so he to make an interior in Scandinavian style. The only thing he need more was painst. So in the interior there were now fashionable shades of pink and blue, as well as furniture and accessories of Scandinavian brands. “The lack of curtains on the windows did not bother anyone – to the house opposite there are three hundred meters,”. Area of 55 m² is located in a Stalinist house built in 1957. The architect did not have the opportunity for a radical redevelopment: the load-bearing wall and the beam pass through the apartment, so he combined only the kitchen and living room, and left the bedroom isolated.

Luxurious Franschhoek Manor House in Africa by INHOUSE

Wednesday, June 13th, 2018

Article source: INHOUSE

Award-winning design studio, Inhouse, has completed the interior of a privately-owned manor house in Franschhoek in the picturesque Cape Winelands. The home was built from scratch in collaboration with Chris de Hart Architects with the aim of capturing the sweep of a spacious plantation-style country estate, with aesthetic touches inspired by the film Casablanca.

The house features large custom-made French doors that open outwards onto courtyards and verandas that complement the landscape. Inside, the house is made up of spacious rooms with high ceilings that display ornate moulding and coffer details. These details are key decorative features and a strategic choice by Inhouse intended to soften the vastness of the space. A large collection of antique furniture was included in the design and Inhouse created an interior scheme that would be sympathetic to the finishing.

Article source: FRAN SILVESTRE ARQUITECTOS

Whitewashing, Enjalbegar in spanish, many languages have verbs that describe the action of lime painting the architectures to clean and embellish them.

In this case it is about updating an apartment with a characteristic distribution of the Valencian expansion district. This type of buildings with a high depth of block and a small central courtyard determines the possible distributions. We approach this work in a systematic way, but here the action of whitewashing goes beyond the treatment of surfaces.
