Haussmann Stories in Paris, France by chartier-corbasson architectes

Wednesday, June 7th, 2017

Article source: chartier-corbasson architectes

At 85 Championnet there was an empty plot of land, with a plan that was too convoluted to be constructed in a classic way, like the rest of the street, built in the Haussmann era. The rue Championnet is indeed occupied by a long ribbon of Haussmannian facades all more or less identical.

The building takes place, leaving empty spaces that, in response to the adjoining courses, create views.

Tuesday, June 6th, 2017

Article source: Luigi Rosselli Pty Ltd – Architects

Sydney’s planners are considering the return of the terraced house, or row house, as a favoured residential building type.  It is believed the terrace could be one solution to addressing housing affordability; by allowing the subdivision of standard quarter acre blocks of land into narrow strips and building adjoining two-three storey dwellings.

Red Rocks in New South Wales, Australia by ARKHAUS

Tuesday, June 6th, 2017

Article source: ARKHAUS

The scheme included working around an existing slab & steel structure. With minor modifications to the structure, and some small extensions to the portal steel frames, we were able to create open, light filled spaces with private bedroom pods each having private deck and garden areas. The outdoor and indoor areas blend into shared spaces including a large infinity pool & spa area opening up to expansive Kangaroo Valley views.

Haus S in Bolzano, Italy by bergmeisterwolf architekten

Tuesday, June 6th, 2017

Article source: bergmeisterwolf architekten

five vacation apartments, connected by the base (garage), are twisted around a shared courtyard. house s aims to be one with the site, the landscape, and the village. following the houses of the neighborhood, the traditional materials of stone and wood are used: natural stone for the base and quartered logs for the façade. the house, placed on an incline, follows local topography only breaking at edges in the terrain. the house outgrows and yet grows into the landscape at the same time – a twist. the house’s position along a street results in a sort of yard in the back part with a vista towards a clearing – a natural recreation area. the upper part of the building, made of wood, lies on the stone base. its height and movement complies with the surrounding rooftops. however, it allows for free vistas between the rooftops of the neighboring houses, revealing wide-open views of the landscape. the result is a sort of movement, a dynamic that includes the neighboring houses without them being the main focus.

The Shadow House in Mumbai, India by Samira Rathod Design Associates

Sunday, June 4th, 2017

Article source: Samira Rathod Design Associates

Set on the foothills of Maharashtra in Alibaug, far away from the busy city life of Mumbai. The plot was a dry barren piece of parched earth. When I first saw it, there were two lonely trees; a view of the hills in the distance and dry fields all the way to the sky, all around.

In that scorching heat, there was only one desire- to be lulled back into that familiar dark, cold, calmness.

Sunday, June 4th, 2017

Article source: Grupa Metaforma

In this world everything is clear – a simple form, minimalistic colors selection, natural materials. This concept of design has been dictated by the male point of view from the very beginning.

The apartment was purchased in the fall and when the architects entered it, they noticed an exceptional view of the old trees in the neighborhood. Yellow, red and brown colors were the perfect background.
