Family House in Horjul, Slovenia by 2AMV Arhitekti

Saturday, June 4th, 2016

Article source: 2AMV Arhitekti

A modern family house positioned on a hill in the idyllic countryside of Ljubljana, Slovenia. It offers its owners a fabulous view of the nearby Village of Horjul on its north side, and panoramic views of the farmland in the south. It’s organized so that the living area is in the top level with the larch-wood terrace providing shade in the south. The sleeping quarters are in the partially underground fool level connected the outside area. Exactly this connection of the internal functions of the house and the hillside was the main goal of the design team 2AMV Arhitekti. This is also prominent in the way the garage is cut into the hill.

Article source: Klopf Architecture

The owners came to Klopf Architecture with a clear vision: Create a brighter home with clean lines and visual surprises – but that enhances the Eichler vernacular – that blurs the boundaries between inside and outside and supports “modern living”.

Main Stay House in Texas by Matt Fajkus Architecture

Saturday, June 4th, 2016

Article source: Matt Fajkus Architecture

Austin’s Bouldin Creek neighborhood provides a unique and ever-changing context to the Main Stay House. The challenges were both cultural and site-specific. The Main Stay House exists as a simple and straightforward proposal – an architectural experiment on domesticity – enabling lifestyle flexibility through clean forms, relatable materiality, and an urban infill living space that blurs the lines between inside and outside.

Article source: Garza Iga Arquitectos

This house was conceived from the start to be sold as an investment for a client. The interior layout is very commercial. But we wanted to make something different, something that stood out from the rest of the houses in the neighborhood. We chose to design a house that would be built quickly making the construction cheaper. The construction process can be summarized in three basic steps.

Mood Ring House in Arkansas by SILO AR+D

Thursday, June 2nd, 2016

Article source: SILO AR+D

An architect led design-build project, MOOD RING HOUSE is a low-cost ($80/sf) single family live-work house.

Located in an eclectic neighborhood in walking distance from the city center of Fayetteville, Arkansas, the design is born out of a mix of site limitations and opportunities, economic constraints, and programmatic requirements. With a skewed alignment to the lot lines, the siting preserves two established monumental Catalpa trees, orienting the house to take advantage of north light from a clerestory, and south and west facing views of the immediate forest and the distant mountains, all while fronting the main intersection near the property. Work functions are consolidated at grade, with a majority of living spaces above. The small base minimizes the built footprint to preserve existing trees and reduce foundation costs, which are at a premium in the unstable Arkansas soil. The cantilevers, in concert with the dramatically sloping site, give unique views of the natural landscape to each living space, creating a private enclave amidst the tree canopy. Beneath overhangs are a carport on the west-facing front and an outdoor room on the east-facing rear.  The shed roof, when coupled with an inverted truss profile, floods the interior volume with natural light.

DILIDO HAUS, the expression of a unique vision of DNA and history.

DILIDO HAUS is a single family home designed with a unique vision, the expression of both, personal story and architectural history. The intention was to achieve an architecture of dignity and honesty. The ideas built upon the strong foundations of Miami’s rich history, geography and culture, while using the latest construction technologies and high quality materials. The front façade of Dilido Haus expresses the key characteristics of MIMO, an architectural style that evolved from Art Deco and Streamline. A rectangle with horizontal proportions, flat roof broad overhanging eaves echoed by horizontal projections of balconies, creating what appear to be two thin continuous gray lines drawn across the white façade and dividing it into three elements: roof terrace, second and ground floor.
