Wednesday, August 30th, 2017

Article source: ATELIER KASTELIC BUFFEY

Alta Chalet is designed as a year-round weekend retreat for a family of five, comprising 3,000 square feet of efficiently planned living space spread over two storeys. Located near the end of a cul-de-sac in a private ski club development, the chalet optimizes the scenic and recreational opportunities afforded by the Blue Mountains, a town in Grey County located two hours northwest of Toronto. Tucked between a protected ravine and the Niagara Escarpment, the site is characterized by an abundance of deciduous and coniferous trees which, in summer, offer welcome shade and privacy.

Article source: Ruud Visser Architectuur

Voordorp is a neighbourhood in Utrecht. The area was designed in the 90’s by several architects. Responsible for the supervision was the architect Theo Bos. He won the Rietveld prize for architecture for his urban scheme. Characteristically for the scheme is the small-scaled structure with many corners, gardens, entrances and a lot of new extensions which fit quite well in the architecture of the area.

Thursday, August 24th, 2017

Article source: Christian Prasser

The owners wished to convert a small existing farmhouse on the main street of the town of Jois, Austria into a comfortable home extended by a large barn. As is customary in a Burgenland street village, the narrow farmhouse extends lengthwise from the main road into the garden at the rear. A green area about 4 m wide runs parallel with the house, separated from the neighbours and the street by high walls, and there is a large barn at the rear of the plot.

House of Alain Hubert in Rhode-St-Genèse, Belgium by Philippe Samyn and Partners

Thursday, August 24th, 2017

Article source: Philippe Samyn and Partners

The Avenue Bel Horizon, typical of a number of residential districts located in the surroundings of Brussels, is bordered by houses, some isolated, some in small groups, arranged in narrow and deep plots. The one that interests us is no exception to the rule: 20 m wide along the road (to the North) and 73 m deep, with a building area limited to 11 m in width and 15 m in depth, 6 m away from the road.
