River Port. Waterfront quarters in Tyumen, Russia by Brusnika

Friday, January 28th, 2022

Article source: Brusnika

Brusnika’s quarters in the River Port form a new housing estate in the centre of Tyumen, Russia. The area is located at the site of the former river port, which marked the beginning of Siberian steam navigation in the late 19th century. Barges were used to transport grain and salt, metal and peltry, fish and timber. At the time Tyumen was genuinely the door to Siberia. In the second half of the 20th century, the development of rail and automobile infrastructure led to a declining demand for river transportation. Eventually the port faded in importance but it still remains a memorable place for the city.

House in a walnut grove in Üllő, Hungary by Konkret studio

Saturday, January 22nd, 2022

Article source: Konkret studio

LOCATION

The location of the project hides between a walnut grove and an open hay field. On the front yard of the traditional narrow-but-long plot stands an old farmhouse, which is typical at this area of the settlement. The new house takes place at the back of the former yard and can be reached by an access road. In determining the new building’s position, we took into account the possible establishment of a road along the arable land, so we slightly pulled the mass away from the rear boundary. That had various effects on the design, like the entrance’s position or displacement and size of the openings. This composition creates a harmonious atmosphere around the house, while the mass fits well the shady environment covered with walnut trees.

Terrace With a House by the Lake in Poznań, Polska by UGO

Friday, January 21st, 2022

Architects: UGO

The building is surrounded on three sides by a large terrace, which is the focal point of the house. It opens to the west, providing the interior with sun and optimal views. The platform of the terrace is the main living space, it allows constant contact with nature, without interfering with it.

The house was built at the top of an escarpment by the lake, in the eastern part of Wielkopolska. The original design of the house was to be in the type of a modern barn, one end wall of which would be completely glazed, thus opening the living room towards the lake. However, in such an arrangement, only the living area would have a view of the water, the remaining rooms, including bedrooms, would be directed to the sides.

House SG in Schorndorf, Germany by FINCKH ARCHITEKTEN BDA

Friday, January 21st, 2022

Article source: FINCKH ARCHITEKTEN BDA

The property is located on the southern slope of schorndorf (20 km east of stuttgart), directly bordering a protected area. in the north and east beautiful orchards as far as the eye can see, in the south and west marginal, uninspiring architecture. A place between urbanity and nature.

The division of the building into three equal squares and their offset arrangement results in a maximum level of sunshine and orientation towards nature for all areas at all times of the day. through a split of the levels, the outside landscape and topography are experienced inside the building. Our building isn’t aligned to the structures of the surrounding buildings but reaches deeper and evolves from the task itself and the context of the location. it interlocks with the adjacent green and creates the transition to the residential area.

ENVELOPE HOUSE in Singapore by ASOLIDPLAN

Wednesday, January 19th, 2022

Article source: ASOLIDPLAN

The brief was for a multi-generational home for three households – the client’s young family with a child, their parents, and their aunt – with private spaces, common spaces and generous greenery.

We formulated the parti as a landscape double skin enveloping three levels of habitable spaces and punctured by a vertical landscaped courtyard.

The first level is for communal use, second for the elderly parents and aunt, and the third level for the young family with their own private door and staircase. A roof garden caps the building.

Araam Villa in Maku, Iran by White Cube Atelier

Monday, January 17th, 2022

Article source: Reza Asadzadeh + Shabnam Khalilpour

Araam Villa is tranquilized in Qare khach village context on southern heights of Maku a city in northwestern Iran near the Turkish border that has long been familiar with modern values due to its border proximity and the presence of migrant minorities; Moreover, the climate of this region is different from the plateau of Iran, it is full of water and has green pastures.Materials and geography are everywhere. It is a trivial matter to say that the value of architecture lies in the geography in which it is located; Or to say it is based on steel, concrete and other elements. Architecture is based on wonder and mystery. And it is a story of striving and struggling against the impossible. Inside the house, the dominance of the landscape leads to a wide and sequential connection for the penetration of the surrounding nature, light, sound and air.
