Taking into account the city’s urban tissue, the project is the renovation of a Brussels typical terraced-house. This Superhouse is located in a quiet, private bay on an undisclosed Mediterranean island and is accessed down a long winding road through the mountainous landscape, or via helicopter for a quick transfer to the mainland. A walled entrance courtyard in local stone creates a sense of arrival – mirroring one’s presence in the sheltered, rocky bay whilst giving a view of the house against the open backdrop of the Mediterranean sea.

SINGLE FAMILY HOME Casa MaMa in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain by equipo olivares arquitectos

Thursday, November 19th, 2015

Article source: equipo olivares arquitectos

The home starts up from a very steep topography and it´s main picture or idea is inspired by the traditional agriculture terraces. Thereby, we try to imitate the builded volume to a landscape that has been traditionally manipulated to this landscape criteria. So, we project a simple volume organized in steps, where the clean cut solutions formally joint to a discreet palette materials, gives this home the sufficient formal clarity and program.

PABELLÓN 3E in Mérida, México by TACO taller de arquitectura contextual

Wednesday, November 18th, 2015

Article source: TACO taller de arquitectura contextual

Pabellón 3E is the result of an architectural intervention of a satellite edification construction of 140 square meters, located inside a residential home from the sixties in one of the first neighborhoods outside of the historic downtown area in the city of Merida, Yucatan, Mexico; such satellite edification, 40 years ago, was part of the neighbor’s property, and the owners acquired it in order to modify it as bedrooms for their large family. Over the years, these rooms became guest-rooms, and given the advanced age of the owners, their difficulty managing stairs and lack of ground floor rooms in the main house, the decision to modify the development was taken in order to create optimal conditions for habitability with minimal financial resources, there for the project does not handle extensions and is strictly defined by the preexisting ones.
