Single Family Housing Correnteza 21 in Lisboa, Portugal by HUMBERTO CONDE

Friday, July 31st, 2015

Article source: HUMBERTO CONDE

This intervention seeks to maintain only the two main existing facades of the building, at North and East, given the high degree of deterioration of the overall volume. Although the existing building is not a remarkable architectural example and with construction quality, contributes to the cohesion of the urban image of the set to which it belongs, so the maintenance of facades allow the continuity of the dialogue between the building and the context in which it operates.

“DETACHED HOUSE IN DROSIA”, in ATHENS, Greece by Katerina Valsamaki

Sunday, July 26th, 2015

Article source:  Katerina Valsamaki

The 580sqm detached house is organized in the form of an L shape inside the oblong site and accommodates a four member family. The integration of the residence into a semi-urban environment is dealt with as a scenario of revelation and dissimulation between private, public and semi-public space; that is to say creating a fluidity of the limits between the living spaces and the public spaces of the building, without however underestimating the importance of privacy. The garden is the focal point of the residence.

Villa View Vriezenveen in Netherlands by Zecc Architecten BV

Friday, July 24th, 2015

Article source: Zecc Architecten BV

This remarkable residential property is a prime example of how the Dutch landscape is being transformed. Historic farmhouses are making way for new, artificial ones or abstract dwellings. The land itself is increasingly being used for recreational purposes rather than for agriculture. Where, in the past, houses were screened from their surroundings, a good view is now regarded as an attractive feature of any house.
