Glanhof 1 in Klagenfurt, Austria by ARCHITECTS COLLECTIVE ZT-GmbH

Saturday, November 21st, 2015

Article source: ARCHITECTS COLLECTIVE ZT-GmbH

The Glanhof is a multi-story housing complex with 150 units in the center of Klagenfurt, Austria. It is named for its location on the Glan River and the arrangement of three building structures surrounding a green and sunny courtyard. In the first phase, a long-stretched structure was built along the Pischeldorfer street, which can be reached via an access balcony with a unique irregular zig-zag geometric facade that integrates hundreds of photovoltaic elements. The 50 – 75 m2 sized subsidized aartments feature up to 15 m2 large balconies oriented to the courtyard. Part of the energy concept of the virtually self-sufficient project is the geothermal brine reservoir that stores excess solar energy from the photovoltaic system during sunny months.

30 SOCIAL HOUSING UNITS in VILLEFRANCHE-SUR-SAÔNE, FRANCE by PETITDIDIERPRIOUX ARCHITECTES

Friday, October 23rd, 2015

Article source: PETITDIDIERPRIOUX ARCHITECTES

Intermediate dwellings

The project takes the form of an urban micro-operation aiming to link a park, that had been isolated until now, and a boulevard running through to the town centre. This has resulted in a pathway being created in the middle of the plot to better make use of its heart and to define an unusual landscape. To either side of this axis, two quite different housing typologies have been built: to the north, a two storey building crossing through the site and, to the south, a series of interleaved houses. Each housing unit is extended by a vast outdoor space positioned either next to the entrance or to the rear of the unit. The most symbolic, being that of the main building, is constructed from a double latticework envelope and, extending the living room, creates an additional space of around 20 m².

Cooperative housing development with 23 homes.

The houses are grouped around a green inner courtyard common to all in the manner of the village green or the »Common«, as it was once called. The houses are plain and simple in design, reticent in form and expression.

Housing and health care complex Eltheto in Rijssen, The Netherlands by 2by4-architects

Friday, October 9th, 2015

Article source: 2by4-architects

In the small town of Rijssen 2by4-architects designed the new healthcare and housing complex ‘Eltheto’ for elderly people. Until recently elderly people were seen as a group that functions outside of modern society and are only in need of care. The contemporary healthcare centers and housing for elderly people are still designed according to his idea. Over the past decennia this resulted in a range of introvert buildings where the main focus is healthcare instead of the quality of life itself.

70 HOUSING UNITS in SAINT-DENIS, FRANCE by PETITDIDIERPRIOUX ARCHITECTES

Tuesday, September 29th, 2015

Article source: PETITDIDIERPRIOUX ARCHITECTES

The project occupies the specific setting of a corner block that, in particular, provides it with an unobstructed view over urban Paris to the south as well as allowing it to complete the urban system established by Christian Devillers. There are two types of housing typologies: 16 individual townhouses and a building containing 54 collective housing units. The houses are laid out along green spaces and passageways that organize views over the rest of the block. The collective building has an “indented” form that allows each housing unit to profit from favorable views and generously proportioned exterior spaces.
