Residential Housing 26 units in Obhur, Saudi Arabia by Dom Arquitectura

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2013

Article source: Dom Arquitectura

The aim is to project 26 houses in the Obhur area. The client wanted to use the same isolated unit type, but generate differences in the street facade to avoid the traditional house complex with all the same.

Recalling the Islamic markets, we remind the Arabic spices image, located in the same container but with different color shades. Natural tones that would fit perfectly into our idea.

La Valentina Station in Sacramento, California by David Baker + Partners Architects

Friday, January 18th, 2013

Article source: David Baker + Partners Architects

For more than two decades, a high-crime light-rail station stopping at a toxic empty lot; now, a sustainable affordable family housing development and new gateway to downtown.

La Valentina Station brings 63-units of affordable rental housing for families to a previously desolate city site. The development bolsters the local sewer, electrical and storm-water infrastructure and brings compact, transit-oriented homes to the neglected area.

Affordable Housing For Young Families in Tuscany, Italy By Studiostudio Architettiurbanisti

Friday, January 11th, 2013

Article source: Studiostudio Architettiurbanisti

The design of the settlement layout is based on the recognition of landform. The project re-proposes latent settlement rules, yet consolidated, able to recover the structuring capacity of the layout and its landscape value.

Six buildings of 60 m long are arranged in the lot according to a north-south orientation with slightly changes in direction. A wall of dry stone delimits the project on the west side and marks the boundary between the industrial area and the new residential compound on the edge of the Tavola old village.

Housing building with 7 units in Rue Des Maraîchers, Luxembourg by METAFORM Architecture

Wednesday, January 9th, 2013

Article source: METAFORM Architecture

A discreet and reduced architecture with hidden openings based on a compact and pure volume. One of the main intentions of the project consists in the insertion of a residential building with 7 living units in its direct surroundings, marked by detached and solitary buildings in an suburban context. The use of a single light coloured material (fibre-cement panels) for the façade gives the building a monolithic aspect and preserves the quiet appearance. The composition of the different volumes merged to the continuous grid of the façade blurs the clear differentiation of the stacked floors, indeed often characteristic for an multi-storey housing project.

Housing in Taipei, Taiwan by Chin Architects

Tuesday, December 25th, 2012

Article source: Chin Architects

At Kuo Yang Tien Mu, which is located at an important urban junction, I attempt to transform the building envelope that protects the residents’ private lives into a meaningful public city façade. The architecture is to initiate an intriguing dialogue with the disordered built environment through a unique yet contemporary gesture. The design wishes to break away from the typical mundane and repetitive urban residential housing, and express a vibrant city life specific to Taipei City instead.
