The Lakeway Residence is a contemporary luxury home located in Lakeway, Texas, nestled in the rolling Central Texas Hill Country. This 4 bedroom, 4 bath residence is positioned on a gently sloping site oriented toward distant views that emerge as the treetops descend down the hillside. The double courtyard parti frames outdoor spaces both to the North and South of the residence. To the North, a drive court allows ample space for vehicular access while setting the main entry and massing off as a composition. Passing through the foyer, the high-ceiling living room opens West to a formal dining area and gourmet kitchen on an axis transverse to the courtyard parti. Continuing to the South, 10’ double sliding glass doors open softly to a large pool deck wrapped by the main spaces of the first floor. The long open floor plan, tall ceilings with ample glazing, and the courtyard parti all work in harmony with passive solar principles and prevailing breezes to allow for an efficient green design.
The Dr. Miriam and Sheldon G. Adelson School of Entrepreneurship at the IDC Herzliya is situated in the northeast corner of campus on a flat site in a small Mediterranean coastal city near Tel Aviv. The upper floors are open and transparent, looking directly out and over the university foliage while the lower floors relate more intimately to the scale of the immediate campus gardens. Students enter the building through an 8 meter high arcade.
The building is home to a first-of-its-kind institution in Israel dedicated to the study and support of entrepreneurship.
This was an architectural project for the design of Daimaru Kyoto, Gion Machiya, as a part of Daimaru’s 300th anniversary for its foundation. We also conducted the interior design of < Hermès Gion-mise> as the first shop opened in this traditional Japanese house.
The site is located along Hanamikoji Street, which goes through the center of Gion area in Kyoto city with traditional townscape. We renovated and transformed a town house previously used as a tea house/ residence into the store.
This contemporary architectural design, located just blocks from the Barton Springs Pool and the Umlauf Sculpture Garden, features two residences in the heart of Austin’s Zilker Neighborhood. Both units open out to private landscaped interior courtyards as well as second floor balconies with views to downtown. The exterior material palette consists of a vertical standing seam siding contrasted against a white washed, vertical cypress tongue and groove siding. The rear unit is the builder / developer, Tim Mccabe’s own residence featuring prints from noted photographer David Hume Kennerly and sculpture from his travels in Asia as the development manager for the Pero Family in Dallas. Tim’s brings his sensibilities from living in Dallas in cannonical modern urban residences by the likes Bud Oblesby and Frank Welch of the O’Neil Ford School here to Austin’s own growing modern tradition. The building as a whole is a focused on elegant, urban living through a simple edited material palette, amazing framed views to the Zilker’s mature tree canopy and ample outdoor gathering spaces.
Overlap combines the acts of dining and growing into the same layer. It enhances an important existing view by framing it with a radially arrayed trellis roof that intersects with a more solid roof for weather protection. The act of physical and visual overlap creates juxtaposition between individual elements (i.e. bench, screen, floor, ceiling) which highlights each element’s unique characteristics. The consistent material pallet unifies the porch as a whole, while providing it fresh identity from the original structure.
In response to the Hungarian government’s noble mission to erect new buildings for six important cultural institutions that are to be located within the City Park in Budapest, this design concept focuses on the museums of architecture and photography. The concept encompasses all aspects of the design program so as to present the jury, and the Hungarian people, with architectural works of art in both structure and landscape, that distinguish both the Hungarian culture and the whole of Europe in a world-renown manner. The concept intends to present works of art housing works of art harmoniously, providing an intriguing dynamic that will draw all visitors to its environs in a manner that simultaneously embraces interaction, enriches cultural pride, and satisfies a desire for an experiential aesthetic that will be immeasurably fulfilling and long-lasting.
Looking to connect its future to the past, Vail Systems, a communications software developer, found a perfect home in the former Chicago Daily News pressroom. The once industrial space has been transformed into a collaborative environment that inspires innovation. Unique structural elements organize functional requirements. Staff is located in large reconfigurable areas, while meeting spaces are organized under mezzanines and catwalks.
The study area is located in the region of Anatoli in Ioannina which is a residential area with low building factor and height. This is a new built area that mostly includes modern townhouses. Our main purpose is to create a modern urban park that hosts many different activities and is aimed at all social groups, creating a recreational area that attracts people of all ages from the whole region.
The Prototype Center of Alternative Alpine Tourism, located in Lake Springs Aoou Metsovo, is designed to give a boost and a new market in tourism, both as regards quality of services provided, and the variety of options. It is a center that can meet and reconcile the needs for recreation and relaxation (hotel unit – bungalow, restaurant, pool building) with the sport (sports center, boats port) and culture (convention center). These uses and the way their organization, make the band a unit that can operate autonomously, as is 20 km from the town of Metsovo. The composition blends with the natural environment, which is particularly beautiful, and topography, not by challenging existing habitats (forest, lake). For this reason,are been used principles and technologies of energy and bioclimatic design such as green roofs, the use of photovoltaic (main roof, blinds) and geothermal energy. Finally, the extensive use of materials such as wood, stone and glass contribute to reconciliation between the Centre and its environment.
