Market eight in Lianyungang, China by AQSO arquitectos office

Friday, December 13th, 2013

Article source: AQSO arquitectos office

This shopping center is divided in five interconnected parts wrapped up by a translucent façade. The circulation is based on twisting corridors opening towards the surrounding landscape.

The project is located in the Chinese port city of Lianyungang, in the vicinity of a new amusement park. The master-plan for this low density area, intended for tertiary use, proposes an interesting organic land fragmentation.

The plot is westbound exposed to an urban condition –a small plaza-, while surrounded by a pedestrian walkway and a river on the opposite side.

Emporia in Kansas by Wingårdh Arkitektkontor AB

Saturday, July 6th, 2013

Article source: Wingårdh Arkitektkontor AB

Emporia is first and foremost an urban planning project in which offices, housing, and retail come together in a mixed-use development along Boulevarden and Stationsgatan in Hyllie, on the south side of Malmö. The main idea of our winning competition entry was to hide inward-looking retail behind a wreath of residential and commercial buildings. The whole shopping complex would thereby eventually become integrated into the fabric of the city.

BBS – Al Bayan Bilingual School in Sabah Al Salem, Kuwait by AGi Architects

Friday, May 24th, 2013

Article source: AGi Architects

The building for children should be created from the child’s point of view, where the design is set specifically to familiarize with their world. The design should also have the flexibility to evolve and grow simultaneously as the children themselves grow, laying the foundation of every form of learning in the future.

Yin Yang House in Venice, California by Brooks + Scarpa Architects

Sunday, May 5th, 2013

Article source: Brooks + Scarpa Architects

This nearly net-zero energy live/work home and office was designed to function not only as a home and commercial office for both parents, but also as a private home for a large and growing family with several children. We sought to create a calm, relaxed and organized environment that emphasizes public space and changes the stereotype of a live/work home for a large family with young kids. Part private home and part business, the house is meant to serve as a place to entertain and a welcoming space for clients and teenagers.
