Company office building for Immoquatro in Gent, Belgium by BURO II & ARCHI+I

Article source: BURO II & ARCHI+I

How architecture improves the quality of the daily work

Around 25 staff is working for Accountancy Service in the new office building.
The plot has a level difference across twelve meters: the garden lies approximately 90cm lower than the front garden strip at street level. This natural slope was incorporated into the design for the new office building. It was decided not to use the garden for parking; parking is accommodated below the building. By raising the volume of the new structure marginally from street level, space was created without the need for a deep excavation. This allows all-round daylight to penetrate the car and bicycle parking level and gives the impression that the building is floating.

DISTRICT COURT in GONESSE, FRANCE by PETITDIDIERPRIOUX

Tuesday, October 20th, 2015

Article source: PETITDIDIERPRIOUX

Complete restructuring

The project forms part of the reforms to the judicial map and aims to join together the activities of two courts in a single setting. Apart from having to restructure the offices, there was also a need to resolve the following dilemma: how to increase the reception areas for the public while remaining within the existing physical envelope? This was achieved by a clever interweaving of the various programmes, resulting in the concourse being enlarged by 50% and given an outdoor extension thanks to an esplanade linked to the public space. This device resolves the organisational problems at the same time as creating a new symbolic relationship between the public and the institution.

Office interior for transportation firm in Beijing, China by CAA

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2015

Article source: CAA

August 1, 2015 – If you ever been in an office tower you’ve probably seen the grueling reality of people doing their jobs in poorly lit rooms. It makes for great satire, but more than that, it’s an attempt to allow people focus on their work at hand. It works, but not terribly effectively. CAA believes it found a better way –despite the conventional layout- to give people a place to produce in healthier place using details that endorse simplicity by design.

Naji Office in Gurgaon, India by ARCHITECTURE DISCIPLINE

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2015

Article source: ARCHITECTURE DISCIPLINE

Crafting a high-end, distinctive office space for a client engaged in manufacturing non-avionic components for the airline industry, The requirement was to create an engaging office for two principals, the team of 8-10 people, a clean room and a meeting room in an area of about 1100 sq.ft. The site occupies an unusually angular corner in an otherwise nondescript mixed use commercial development. There were no wet areas, the space was divided and there was minimal daylight from a dark curved glass towards one edge of the space. The glass did however, admit a lot of heat due to its southern aspect and there was no possibility of upgrading the glass for better insulation. The challenge lay in infusing positive and dynamic energy into a deeply compromised shell. The space had to convey image of an organisation and the program it had to perform.
