La Belle électrique in Grenoble, France by Hérault Arnod architects

Thursday, January 19th, 2017

Article source: v2com

Electronic music is a new subject for architecture. Most of the times electro nights take place in spaces that were not specially designed for them: clubs or night clubs, warehouses, fields, stadiums… For the Grenoble project, the aim was to invent a specific architectural system for a new type of spectacle and relationship with the public, whilst allowing concerts with a more traditional configuration.

Wednesday, January 18th, 2017

Article source: ccArquitectos

Built between two leaf-vegetable production warehouses, the idea behind this project was to locate the complex’s offices in a space that would draw attention to the constant interaction of the management departments in order to create a harmonious environment, moving away from the traditional office feel and toward a collective experience of working together with a shared purpose.

Light Box in Los Angeles, California by ANX / Aaron Neubert Architects, Inc.

Wednesday, January 18th, 2017

Article source: ANX / Aaron Neubert Architects, Inc.

On a gritty stretch of Venice Boulevard in Los Angeles, the PSPMLA office sits on a previously vacant 2,500 sf infill commercial parcel. Dubbed the “Light Box” for its simple geometry slotted in acknowledgement of the natural solar conditions, the 2,200 sf office for a boutique property management firm discretely slips into the streetscape of tightly packed auto body shops, neon sign fabricators, digital printers, and various light commercial businesses. The design expands upon the urban texture of the street, while also carving out a bright, naturally illuminated respite for the office staff and their clientele.

The Poetics of Slow Office Space in Shanghai, China by Muxin Design and Research

Wednesday, January 18th, 2017

Article source: Sunshine PR

Indeed, the images I want to examine are the quite simple images of felicitous space. In this orientation, these investigations would deserve to be called topophilia.

Gaston Bachelard, The Poetics of Space

The politics of space, as advocated tirelessly by Lefebvre, is materialized as ubiquitous nets of power relations, rending all the office spaces a colosseum of power.

Rosemoo Office in Beijing, China by Cun-Design

Wednesday, January 18th, 2017

Article source: Sunshine PR

Beauty of orient lies in the lyric way of expressing emotions and its simple and natural nature. Such characteristics are not superficial symbols or cultural elements imposed on inner nature. Symbols and elements are not essential in design and they themselves only could not build up good designs! Beauty of Asia lies more in the flexible way of design.

Gaia Building in Ecuador by Leppanen + Anker

Saturday, January 14th, 2017

Article source: Leppanen + Anker

It is a 14 story, 15,000 m2 mixed use building: commercial on the lower floor, offices for the next four floors and residential units on the next nine floors.

The building is located at an important intersection within the city where urban elements converge, such as a new metro stop, an important government building, a commercial shopping center and the most emblematic park of the city. Being the first new construction in this zone and highly visible, the building attempts to combine the many existing and new diverse elements through movements that bring new shadow lines reflections and points of view.

New headquarters of Crédit Mutuel de Loire-Atlantique in Nantes, France by AIA Associés, associated with AIA Architectes and Intens-Cité

Saturday, January 14th, 2017

Article source: METROPOLIS communication

The basic concept: A light and transparent bank

The question leading to the basic concept underlying this project was: how to offer the highest quality and most efficient ergonomic work spaces possible?  The answer to this question resolved all the other issues facing the operation with regard to its insertion in the urban fabric, its environmental quality and the representation of the activity of banking in a period of financial crisis. Thus, the offices are distributed over three floors forming a thickness of 38 m, organized around two patios. The top floors are comprised of standard offices, and the C-suites, while the ground floor and the lower floors house public and shared functions: exhibition gallery, meeting and reception rooms, café, and restaurant serving the entire site, distributed around a broad atrium. This configuration ensures that all the offices benefit from equivalent spatial qualities and quality lighting. In addition, it fosters optimal communication between occupants and users and easy navigation of the site thanks to looping circulations.
