Sunday, May 21st, 2017

Article source: Metaforma

Office spaces are often associated with unfriendliness and anonymity.  Architects from the Metaforma Group have faced the challenge of designing a space that will not only foster concentration while working, but will also allow you to fully rest during breaks. Acoustics and individually adjusted solutions in surface zoning have become the guiding ideas of the concept.

Banorte Financial Group in Tlalpan, Mexico City by BROISSIN

Sunday, May 21st, 2017

Article source: BROISSIN

This privately owned corporate, building is stage III of the modernization of “Grupo Financiero Banorte’s” facilities, with a capacity for 1,446 cars in direct response to an aggressive automotive financing program of the group for the employees, at a rate of 8 cars per 10 employees, giving a total of 44,700 m2 contained within 3 basements and 4 floors in the superstructure. Due to the structure’s height, the glazed volume contains positions for 1,143 people on two floors of 6,000 m2 each, a surface that required a strong solution to obtain natural lighting near each user. We then decided to have four inner courtyards open to the interior of the offices, which in addition to mitigating the light problem well, also physically ordering and sectioning departments by optimizing each plant functionally.

NEW SUPREME COURT PHILIPPINES IN MANILA BY CAZA

Friday, May 19th, 2017

Article source: CAZA

CAZA’s new Supreme Court for the Philippines is a symbol of judicial transparency for Asia’s oldest democracy. The building is a 3-dimensional hyperbolic loop hanging over a botanical garden whose form represents the complex functional interconnections required by contemporary court houses. Composed of six rectangular volumes engineered to create one integrated seamless work environment for the delivery of judicial services, the open architectural form created also enables the building to sustain a collection of locally-themed gardens through rainwater-harvesting terraces. The building stands as a monument to multiplicity – a totem of connectivity that connects with the tradition of tribal architecture in the Philippines, while employing new technologies that envision a more optimistic way of living on our planet.

DC Towers I + II in Vienna, Austria by Dominique Perrault Architecture

Thursday, May 18th, 2017

Article source: Dominique Perrault Architecture

The design of the two high-rise towers for the Donau-City in Vienna represents the concluding phase of a development extending over several decades: on what was originally a municipal rubbish tip the UNO-City was erected (1973–1979), tentative plans to hold the 1995 Vienna-Budapest EXPO here were soon abandoned, as a result architects Krischanitz and Neumann (commissioned by WED AG) produced an urban design masterplan for the area in 1992. The outcome is an entirely new urban district with a diverse range of functions.
