House for Y in Ichihara, Japan by kurosawa kawara-ten

Article source: kurosawa kawara-ten

Housing developments and family member

The site of this house was a housing development  which have passed around 40 years since the area had stared selling. There are over 400 numbers of houses but they have no value as a property and people who are living in are not so young anymore. The demands of client are an over 330 square meter land space and enough distances from neighbors for a better privacy. Then the site was thought as the better conditions because of the low price of land and the density of the development.

Redondo Building in Coimbra, Portugal by João Branco e Paula del Rio, Arquitectos

Friday, June 22nd, 2018

Article source: João Branco e Paula del Rio, Arquitectos

The “Redondo” is the last of a row of four buildings built at the beginning of the 20th century in the center of Coimbra. Its cylindrical shape responds to the oblique cross between two streets, and gives the building a certain singularity and its name. The original organization in two independent houses: an apartment on the ground floor and a house with two floors and garret on the upper level, was maintained.

Slice House in Al-Adiliyah, Kuwait by ALHUMAIDHI ARCHITECTS

Thursday, June 21st, 2018

Article source: ALHUMAIDHI ARCHITECTS

The project is located in Al-Adiliyah, Kuwait with a plot area of 1000 m2. The rectangular plot has neighbors to the east and south in addition to a pedestrian alley way along its longer northern edge. The shorter street frontage on the western side benefits from a community garden across the street. The massing looks like a slice of cake- a triangular wedge inserted into the plot and angled to maximize privacy away from neighbors to the east and from across the pedestrian alley on its northern edge. The angled edge also subtly orients the homes views and main frontage towards the garden across the street.

Haengchon vacant lot 3 in Seoul, Republic of Korea by KDDH

Thursday, June 21st, 2018

Article source: KDDH

The city has grown so fast that it can not be measured. Then what about the quality of our lives?

Dehumanization of human beings, poor generosity and busy daily lives. Seoul is perhaps the most widespread place to be in such matters. Achromatic people moving without composure and hectic daily routines are not allowed except for coming and going to the same place. The city produces a quick and fancy flow, but since it is not a penetrative flow in every small alley, we still wait for the slow, humble spaces to remain their original appearance in Seoul. For us who have lived far away from the earth, being close to it can be a symbol of humanity and composure. The reason why we need urban agriculture is simple. We need a buffer. Fill the city with loose and soft soil every nook and corner.

Cliff House in Auckland, New Zealand by Leuschke Kahn Architects Limited

Thursday, June 21st, 2018

Article source: Leuschke Kahn Architects Limited

The design of this home was a direct response to its site, being south facing and on a steep bluff overlooking Hobson Bay, a city fringe suburb of Auckland, New Zealand. “It had great views back to the city, and my client asked to be able to stand in her kitchen and see the Sky Tower,” says architect, Paul Leuschke. The issue was there was no building platform.

“It was a delicate exercise in making the most of a not-so-favourable site facing the wrong way [for the sun] and on a cliff, plus achieving a degree of separation from its neighbours.” says the architect.

Squat Id23 in Prague, Czech Republic by LOOOOX

Thursday, June 21st, 2018

Article source: LOOOOX

A Czech online platform for interior design called insidecor has introduced a unique project in Prague. The company invited five different ateliers and designers to design five different spaces in a historical building. SQUAT iD23 is situated on the capital’s most luxurious street, Pařížská.

Visitors can occupy the spaces for a while, and that is also the reason why insidecor chose the name “SQUAT”. The flats were designed by well-known Czech architects as well as upcoming young talents. The ateliers cooperated with both high-quality Czech and foreign furniture and accessories suppliers, who are all partners of insidecor.
