Harbor Houses in Aarhus, Denmark by Adept

Wednesday, December 21st, 2016

Article source: Adept

Common greenhouses on the roof tops, adjacent terraces overlooking the bay of Aarhus, and a sheltered green courtyard. This is the essence of the Harbor Houses, a new residential complex in the port of Aarhus, which breaks with both the port’s massive scale, and present iconic building tendencies. The project consists of 262 public dwellings distributed between 83 apartments for families and +55 aged seniors, as well as 179 student-housing units.

145 housing units + FAM + PMI in Paris, France by Avenier Cornejo Architectes

Wednesday, December 21st, 2016

Article source: Avenier Cornejo Architectes

Jumps of scale to understand the place

The site is integrated into the multi-urban network of Paris, the Grande Couronne and major green spaces and infrastructure networks. The ZAC Clichy-Batignolles is perceived as a new landscape of connection, a wide-open urban door along the major territorial arches towards the historic city.

The site becomes an important urban platform, an exchange node inserted into the system of great Parisian relational spaces. It holds a role of transition between different scales, them being territorial, urban, environmental, social, cultural, and infrastructure standpoints. The ZAC thus acts as a device of resonance and multi-district transfer.

VILLA ASTRID in Gothenburg, Sweden by Wingårdh Arkitektkontor AB

Wednesday, December 21st, 2016

Article source: Wingårdh Arkitektkontor AB

I designed Villa Astrid in the summer of 2002 and Karin completed the details and made improvements throughout the autumn. The site was tucked between two houses and consisted mainly of rugged and fairly steep rock. The detailed plans specified eaves of maximum 3.5 metres high and a roof slope of 14 to 27 degrees. My client had a construction programme for a two-storey building. The answer was to sink the upper floor. That sounds easy, but it took several weeks to design.

Cinnamon Tower in Hamburg, Germany by BOLLES+WILSON GmbH & Co. KG

Tuesday, December 20th, 2016

Article source: BOLLES+WILSON GmbH & Co. KG

The Cinnamon tower was conceived as freestanding campanile – a pin on a piazza was the concept behind the premiated competition design by BOLLES+WILSON for the existing 19th century Harbour Masters Building.

A tower was not anticipated in the competition programme, but the jury agreed that a tower anchors the public functions around the only remaining historical building to survive between the megablocks of the ‘Overseas Quarter’ master plan. The historic building would thus be more autonomous.

3 Houses 3 Sisters in Coimbra, Portugal by BICA Arquitectos

Tuesday, December 20th, 2016

Article source: BICA Arquitectos

In a small village near the city of Coimbra, 3 sisters inherit and share a land. They wanted to build a house that would join them for the second time in their lives, because the family houses they own are nowadays too large.

Located at the village’s entrance, this field is composed by two streets, a square and a small house. The implementation of the 3 houses elects as the main facade the south elevation, that adjoins the street and turns too the square at east.

Moncalvo in Turin, Italy by Arch. Fabio Fantolino

Tuesday, December 20th, 2016

Article source: Arch. Fabio Fantolino

An apartment in a building of the early ‘900, located in the Turin hills a few steps from the Gran Madre and from the Piazza Vittorio, has been deeply and carefully restored in 2015 by architect Fabio Fantolino. The international vintage mood is the fil rouge of the project, where elements from the 50s are combined with a conscious recovery of pre-existing structures. The project includes the total renovation of the apartment, the interior design and the design of the lights and custom furniture.
