Hemmingford House in Canada by SIMARD architecture

Friday, December 16th, 2016

Article source: v2com

In the vast rural fields south of Montreal, a new residence takes root. Like a fieldstone unveiled amongst the furrows of a ploughed field, a stratified monolith of slate emerges from the earth. Eroded, sculpted and fragmented by time and the forces of nature, this mineral formation becomes the pedestal upon which new life is anchored.

The highest value of the plot is a wonderful view stretching out. The idea was for the house to become its framework that crops it. The most appropriate building turned out to be a fully open on mountain landscape one-storey building, which gives the same view to all of the interiors.

Slab House in London, England by Bureau de Change Architects

Thursday, December 15th, 2016

Article source: Bureau de Change Architects

The focal point of the project is a concrete waffle shaped roof, which sits aloft the new living area. Its pre-fabricated peaks and troughs create trenches for rooftop planting, softening the volume, establishing a connection with the leafy surroundings and creating pleasing views from the floors above. From the garden, the roof trenches are out of sight, giving the immediate effect of a simple concrete slab, which contrasts with the texture of the original building.

Architecture of the time in Faggeto Lario, Italy by Ceresa Architetto

Thursday, December 15th, 2016

Article source: Ceresa Architetto

The ring out of this valley is not changed, it’s the same silent which someone heard long ago, long before your passing.

Nothing ever happens here. But if you have patience when you stopping, you can understand how the atmosphere you breathe in this place is ancient, it’s chimes in ethereal way. It’s the architecture who is talking about this.

You can see, towards valley, the bell tower and the historic tower and between them the castle walls. The space between them has something pleasantly melancholy.

Ruta 40 Tour Operator in Turin, Italy by IDEEA Interior Design & Architecture

Thursday, December 15th, 2016

Article source: IDEEA Interior Design & Architecture

Ruta 40 is a workspace characterised by a strong home-like feeling. The design meets the need for a space for informal interaction as well as a welcoming place to work. The office was created in a light-filled mansard, previously used as a residential flat. Every space has its own precise function. The living room became a comfortable lounge, the kitchen, which is hidden in the lounge, can host up to two work stations, the bathroom is like a tiny spa, with a bench for relaxing and enjoying the view laid out on the walls, and the two bedrooms were transformed into warm, welcoming offices.

House Lightray in Dnepr by Azovskiy&Pahomova Architects

Thursday, December 15th, 2016

Article source: Azovskiy&Pahomova Architects

It was difficult and diligent work, but as a result we’ve got incredibly charming and soulful house. The original building has neither roof nor finishing, also a part of foundation was absent. We had to work very hard over the architecture of the building and the landscape. The result is a two-storey house of 240 sq m with three bedrooms, dining and living area, a kitchen, a lounge on the first floor, two bathrooms, laundry room and the furnace. The customer wanted to divide a whole space into several functional areas. The lion’s share of the first floor was taken by the living room, where we also organized a dining area. The ceiling height was really a problem, but at the same time, it was the starting point for the entire home concept. We decided to set the rhythm with wooden beams on the ceiling, which helped not only visually stretch the space, but also create the necessary comfort. A fireplace became a beautiful decoration of the living room. We used marble to cover the fireplace. Dining area is located near the window. We intentionally abandoned a textile to open a panoramic courtyard view. Laconic and functional kitchen is separated by a system of sliding panels that reflecting a light. Also there is a comfortable zone for breakfast, which has become a favorite place of the customer. A slate tiles is practical and aesthetic solution for the walls in the kitchen and hallway. We put down the sills to let a light in, what has visually raised the ceiling. On the first and second floor we have made spacious halls with a gallery on the first and work place on the second one.
