Telegraph Hill House in San Francisco, California by Feldman Architecture, Inc.

Friday, May 11th, 2018

Article source: Feldman Architecture, Inc.

The original house suffered from a plain, unarticulated stucco façade and unusually narrow, chopped-up interior spaces. The main living spaces were separated from the entry by two floors of awkward, dark stairs and hallways. But the house did have tall ceilings and the potential for stunning views of the Golden Gate Bridge, Coit Tower, and downtown San Francisco.

Copeland Grove in Dublin, Republic of Ireland by Stephen Kavanagh Architects

Friday, May 11th, 2018

Article source: Stephen Kavanagh Architects

In commissioning the extension and refurbishment of Stephen’s childhood home, a 3-bed terraced house in North Dublin, Dolores and Steve Snr desired something light and spacious that would help them engage with their sizeable garden, previously hidden from view.

A large amount of glazing was employed to provide a transformative panoramic view, while also increasing the solar heat gain into the house. The old kitchen extension had been the greatest source of heat loss in the house, so it was poetic that its replacement should become a net contributor to thermal comfort. With the extension primarily facing north, a roof light runs the length of the extension to allow sunlight to enter the space throughout the day.

Article source: Feldman Architecture, Inc.

When the client approached Feldman Architecture with a vision of a family home with a swing on a tree and a barbeque out back, the architects embraced the opportunity to apply contemporary ideals to a traditional aesthetic.  They integrated light-filled spaces and seamless transitions between indoor and outdoor areas into a classical layout to deliver a design as attentive to the house’s feel as to its look.

Friday, May 11th, 2018

Article source: HVOYA Architectural Bureau

This is a house for the family of two artists in Roschino, sixty kilometres from Saint-Petersburg. The house is located on the edge of a settlement, just by the forest. The plot is a bit sloped, it is completely covered with conifer trees and has two anthills on it. The position and dimensions of the building are predefined by the environment. A long narrow volume of the house is placed in such a way that it preserves all the flora and fauna of the site.

Villa Boscana in Majorca, Spain by OLARQ OSVALDO LUPPI ARCHITECTS

Article source: OLARQ OSVALDO LUPPI ARCHITECTS

An icon

Form must be forceful. If not, it’s not form.

A double-storey volume of exposed concrete is embedded in the rock generating a cantilever that occupies a whole floor in the form of a wooden base.

Raw concrete, natural wood, black metal, water, rocks and vegetation are the only elements.

The crystal pool seems to float in the same water it contains. There are no windows, just the absence of walls.

Thursday, May 10th, 2018

Article source: Jin Seok Yang (Y GROUP)

The fifth house. A house similar to stem and leaves, gratitude house.

This is a house of multi-cultural family of Korea and Vietnam. It’s a house that has the biggest area of 6 house and two families parents, children, and marriage couple, total of 7 people will live. Considering two families parents’ line of flow, no private space for marriage couple before, no bathroom for the children, we agonize how to arrange the space.
