The Shadow House in Mumbai, India by Samira Rathod Design Associates

Sunday, June 4th, 2017

Article source: Samira Rathod Design Associates

Set on the foothills of Maharashtra in Alibaug, far away from the busy city life of Mumbai. The plot was a dry barren piece of parched earth. When I first saw it, there were two lonely trees; a view of the hills in the distance and dry fields all the way to the sky, all around.

In that scorching heat, there was only one desire- to be lulled back into that familiar dark, cold, calmness.

Apartment For A Guy and Even Two of Them in Poznań, Poland by Grupa Metaforma

Sunday, June 4th, 2017

Article source: Grupa Metaforma

In this world everything is clear – a simple form, minimalistic colors selection, natural materials. This concept of design has been dictated by the male point of view from the very beginning.

The apartment was purchased in the fall and when the architects entered it, they noticed an exceptional view of the old trees in the neighborhood. Yellow, red and brown colors were the perfect background.

The MeMo house, which was built on a plot in San Isidro, in the northern part of the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina, was conceived on the premise of a client who is passionate about landscaping and has a strong conviction regarding sustainability and the environment. House in Hanareyama, Japan by Kidosaki Architects Studio

Friday, June 2nd, 2017

Article source: Kidosaki Architects Studio

The surrounding of the site located at the foot of the Hanareyama, overlooking the landmark of the region in north orientation, shows the spread of the trees grown up in years. We tried to produce an architecture with the dignified presence, which has both free spirited and subtle quality- by placing a one-storied house maintaining a low building profile that dynamically extends in east and west orientation with sharply extending eaves on the building for exaggerating the horizontality against the surrounding landscape with bold yet delicate vertical quality.

Beach House in Victoria, Australia by DX Architects

Friday, June 2nd, 2017

Article source: DX Architects

The Blairgowrie Beach House on the Mornington Peninsula retained and altered the rear proportion of the existing building and expanded the dwelling forward on a steeply sloped site to accommodate additional living and sleeping areas. Manipulations of the building form were employed to address the access disconnect and setup a conceptual framework where we continued our practices interest in spatial division patterns. The new first floor incorporates a large cantilevered metal clad form which created a covered area for car parking, and was counteracted with concrete rendered vertical walls which pushed out to level out the land. Continuing formal manipulations, the metal clad form had volumes carved out to incorporate a balcony space, and a feature vertical window to illuminate at night and interact with the public realm when the house is being occupied.

La Casa del Bosque in Federal, Mexico by grupoarquitectura

Thursday, June 1st, 2017

Article source: grupoarquitectura

The house consists of two very geometric separate volumes of concrete, one for services and other for the principal areas of the house. The two bodies are joined using steel bridges with glass floor that do not touch the trees and the forest and seems that we walk on the vegetation.

The staircase is part of these bridges and neither touches the Forest, is completely blown from the house.

KAFKA CASTLE in Sant Pere de Ribes, Spain by RICARDO BOFILL TALLER DE ARQUITECTURA

Thursday, June 1st, 2017

Article source: RICARDO BOFILL TALLER DE ARQUITECTURA

Identification on the part of some members of the Taller de Arquitectura with certain ideas of the Archigram movement, and enthusiasm for experimentation with geometry and its application possibilities to housing, are two factors given tangible form in Kafka’s Castle. This apartment building, on a hill overlooking the bay of Sitges, is fruit of the clustering of cubes around nuclei of vertical circulation. Each cube contains a minimalist environment: living-dining room or bathroom-bedroom, articulated on different levels. The color of the façades, chosen from a range of blues, expresses the intention to merge the building with its natural background, the sky.
