MINIMOD Catuçaba in São Paulo, Brazil by MAPA Architects

Sunday, February 19th, 2017

Article source: MAPA Architects

MINIMOD CATUÇABA is a primitive retreat with a contemporary reinterpretation, which more than an object aims to become an every-remote-landscape experience.

MINIMOD presents an alternative to traditional construction: based on prefab plug&play logics, it incorporates the benefits that a newly-born industry has to offer. Quiet but not shy, its unique-in-Brazil CLT Wood-Technology combines industrialized products`efficiency and new technologies` sustainability with the sensitivity of the natural material par excellence.

“Los Álamos de Fuentecisneros” Block of 59 houses in Madrid, Spain by Otto Medem Arquitectura S.L.

Article source: Otto Medem Arquitectura S.L.

As the architect, from the begining of the project, I set out the following main goals:

Make the most of the characteristics of the terrain and enhance them by choosing the perfect orientation.

Design a set of housing complex that escapes from the everyday conventionalism of collective housing, and that is able to transmit and generate feelings. I want people to be overcome with emotion as soon as they enter the complex and feel the  beauty and harmony that each home provides, without sacrificing functionality.

Article source: Lopez Duplan Arquitectos

For some housing developments, showroom apartments must be done and the main challenge is the creation of a residential environment with all the necessary details to appeal to anyone. It is almost a dream comes true, a space that has to be design without a client, but it is exactly the opposite, it is a space that will be visited by many clients and the goal is to catch everybody’s eye and most specially to make them feel: “I want to live here”.

RF III APARTMENT in Lisboa, Portugal by Joao Tiago Aguiar Arquitectos

Sunday, February 19th, 2017

Article source: Joao Tiago Aguiar Arquitectos

Transformation of a 4 bedroom apartment into a 2 bedroom apartment, increasing this way its social areas .

The apartment was essentially developed along its length, structuring itself around a long corridor. However, thanks to two existing courtyards in the building it benefited from the entry of natural light in its inner part. The house was quite compartmentalized, and the rooms, with tiny areas, were mainly oriented to those courtyards. On the rear façade there used to be a very large and disqualified marquise devoted to storage and cleaning areas. It had only one complete bathroom.

Residential House Cologne Hahnwald in Köln, Germany by Corneille Uedingslohmann Architekten

Friday, February 17th, 2017

Article source: Corneille Uedingslohmann Architekten

The original planning brief foresaw an adaptation of the existing house, which was inhabited by the building owner at the time. The home owner’s driving aspiration for the project was the integration of a swimming pool with a visual relationship to the outside. After many design variations and the exhaustion of all building parameters it became clear this would not be feasible within the constraints of the old house. However the strong desire for a private swimming pool remained, leading the owner to the courageous decision to tear down the original house and build new in order to realize their ideas.

House in Sharon area, Israel by Dan and Hila Israelevitz Architects

Friday, February 17th, 2017

Article source: Dan and Hila Israelevitz Architects

Program: a couple + three grown-up children. The house is meant to serve three grown-up children in suites of their own and their parents. The basement includes a play/ leisure room, apartmental protected space and one of the children’s suites.

Ground floor: living room, kitchen, dining room, guest bathroom and a pantry. The main idea in the ground floor is the division of the space into two sections: one is the living room, and the second one, hidden, is the kitchen and dining table, which face the front house’s morning garden. The element that constitutes the division is a wooden cube that is detached from the lateral walls to allow for a passageway and disconnected from the structure’s ceiling. This cube includes the guest bathroom from one side, and a pantry from the other side, serving the kitchen. The detachment of the cube from the house ceiling constitutes a sense of flow and continuity in the space.

A small residential area in the Pyrenees is the location of a small summer house, which was designed under common conditions for this kind of project, plot geometry, solar orientation, … and also under two impositions by the property: its materiality, the house had to be made of wood, and the budget, one hundred thousand euros.
