Bibliothèque Alexis de Tocqueville in Caen, France by OMA

Saturday, November 19th, 2016

Article source: OMA

Bibliothèque Alexis de Tocqueville is a public library for the metropolitan region Caen la Mer in Normandy, France. The 12,000 m2 multimedia library is located at the tip of the peninsula that extends out from the city of Caen to the English Channel. Its key position – between the city’s historic core and an area of Caen that is being developed – supports the city’s ambition for the library to become a new civic center. The library’s glass facade visually connects the adjacent park, pedestrian pathway and waterfront plaza to the interior and together with two large ground floor entrances at both sides of the building, enables a fluid interaction of the library with its surroundings. On the upper floors, the urban belvedere provides unobstructed views in all four directions.

Confraria Kero in Porto Alegre, Brazil by Kali Arquitetura

Wednesday, November 16th, 2016

Article source: Kali Arquitetura

It all started with a food truck that used to attend events around the city. The business, which was baptized of ‘Confraria Kero Food Truck’, has grown to the point that the partners decided to expand it. The idea was to offer the customers a permanent address and more physical space. The decision between keeping or not the words ‘food truck’ in the name of the business, turned out to be the main motivation and inspiration for the design concept of this project.

Between the main elements of the interior lightings of the restaurant are the pendants Mezza Luna in transparent white “nebulite” (a specially mixed fiber and resin), by the Italian brand In-es.artdesign.

Mezza Luna is a suspension with a pure and evocative design, available in monochrome and transparent versions or in different color combinations that cover the surface with a matt and opaque glaze, creating an interesting contrast between its interior and its exterior.
