House in Aoyama, Japan by Kawazoe Architects

Thursday, August 16th, 2018

Article source: Kawazoe Architects

The site has a small mountain on the north side and the south is down.

We examined the sequence so that we can enjoy the view at the 2nd floor living room.

We go through the slightly tight space at the entrance, the staircase hall and reach the second floor where the view spreads.

The appearance is the shape of a simple gable.

The staircase hall was in the center of the building, and arranged each room around it.

The finish of the staircase hall changes the material from the others and emphasizes the difference in the space.

Also, there are small windows from each room, creating interior and exterior relationships inside the room while inside.

The site lies in the mountain slopes of the tree and you can see the view in the north.

The building is a simple form of gable.

Only the entrance to the entrance can be seen on the road side, and the impression is minimal overall.

Esquire Office in New Delhi, India by Studio Bipolar

Monday, August 13th, 2018

Article source: Studio Bipolar

Esquire being an American men’s magazine, published in the United States, is one which screams sophistication, yet it accomplishes this in a quirky and whimsical tone.

This thought was to be carried out in the design of their own branded nightclub in the heart of new delhi. For the sole purpose of supervision over the nightclub and its administration, Esquire needed a workspace to be developed for them in Defence Colony Market, New Delhi. This work hub was being developed for the “creative owners of a nightclub” and the design had to reflect this very aspect as well.

Country House – Sapucaí-Mirim / MG in Brazil by APBA – Arquiteto Paulo Bastos e Associados

Thursday, August 9th, 2018

Article source: APBA – Arquiteto Paulo Bastos e Associados

Designed in the early 1980s, this country house was completed in 2014, two years after the death of its author, Architect Paulo Bastos, in 2012. Built in Sapucaí-Mirim, a city located by Serra da Mantiqueira, a mountain range that separates the states of São Paulo and Minas Gerais, the residence was inserted in a natural glade into the woods. The location was carefully chosen by the author, in absolute respect and harmony with the existing vegetation, abundant in Araucárias, large trees indigenous of this mountainous region.

Article source: Miró Rivera Architects

Situated in a low-lying field adjacent to both a lake and a quiet lagoon, Residence 1446 was the final element of a ten-year master plan that includes a guest house, pedestrian bridge, pool, and boathouse. Arranged around a central courtyard and characterized by its distinctive, copper-clad roof profiles, this onelevel home is defined by a horizontality that responds quietly and sensitively to its serene wetland surroundings.

Pier House in Maryland by KUBE Architecture PC

Monday, August 6th, 2018

Article source: KUBE Architecture PC

The Pier House is perched on a hillside overlooking the Potomac River in southern Maryland. The 130 foot long house is conceived as a pier with seamless transitions between interior and exterior living areas. Elongated decks and walkways offer a variety of panoramic and framed views of the water and landscape beyond. From the street side the house presents itself as a solid volume in contrast to the transparent double height living space facing the river. The recessed lower level and the exposed steel frames over the deck, allow the house to appear to float over the landscape.

Ratchut School in Khon Kaen, Thailand by Design In Motion Co., Ltd.

Friday, August 3rd, 2018

Article source:  Design In Motion Co., Ltd.

The project design reflects the ‘Montessori’ ideal learning environment, where a learning space should resemble a home more than a typical classroom. Therefore, the learning area is split into multiple small-sized “rooms”, where all the children could feel more like home when they come to school. The layout of these “rooms” has been designed to correlate with each of children’s activities. The best learning environment for children this age is nature, that why the building layout has been carefully planned to support children’s self-learning and integrated both indoors and outdoors spaces, architecture and landscape to provide different learning activities.
