House Passage of LAndscape in Toyota, Japan by Masaki Ihara/ ihrmk

Tuesday, March 10th, 2015

Article source: Masaki Ihara/ ihrmk

This is a house for the family of three.
Tanada, terraced paddy field, widely appears to its south and the west. My first visiting of this site was in early summer, three years ago. Bright green and reflection of water of the rice field just after the rice-planting, natural sounds of breeze rusting the leaves of lemon trees and Magnolia figo slightly and sound of running water from the waterway had created comfortable scenery there. It was calm place and there was nothing to cutting off my view from the site.

Contemporary Villa in Tuscany, Italy by Storm Studio Architecture

Tuesday, March 10th, 2015

Article source: Storm Studio Architecture

A villa sited in the Tuscany countryside which is respondent to the requests of a young couple.
The shape of the project solves the great height difference from the street level to the garden, using a series of embankments at various levels which mixed stone and grass. The metallic roof (an oxidized copper roof) has its own life and its purpose is to lighten the structure of the ground floor.

BUS STATION CANOPIES in Rotterdam, Netherlands by MAXWAN architects + urbanists

Thursday, March 5th, 2015

Article source: MAXWAN architects + urbanists

Large budgets and enormous amounts of energy are spent on the upgrading of major Dutch railway stations in Amsterdam, The Hague, Utrecht and Rotterdam. The efforts at creating quality environments related to public transport should not be limited to the station building itself. By paying close attention to all public space surrounding the railway hubs, the promise of true Transport Oriented Development can be kept alive. Maxwan’s plans for Rotterdam Central District emphasize the quality of that public space.

560 Vinson in Fayetteville, Arkansas by Modus Studio

Tuesday, February 24th, 2015

Article source: Modus Studio

Empowered by their love of place and a history of previous renovations, the owners of this Mt. Sequoyah property sought a complete transformation for their modest ranch-style home. They came to us for a creative and modern approach to design that would provide natural light and views throughout the project. With deep ties to the surrounding neighborhood, there was also a desire to tastefully censor the adjacent homes without completely severing their connection to this charming community.

Minimalist design meets everlasting intellectual values. Temple of books shaped into a long brick house in the side of the Big-Proud Peak, Hungary, from Foldes Architects

The project initiated by an intellectual couple, had a clear starting point, as highlighted to architects Laszlo Foldes and Peter Sonicz: “We own a length of books something like 100 meters”. The owners of the site had found the best location to retire from work and the noise of Budapest in a rich natural environment, at the side of the Big-Proud Peak.

LONE RANGER HOT DOG SHOP in Shanghai, China by LINEHOUSE

Saturday, February 21st, 2015

Article source: LINEHOUSE

LINEHOUSE was asked to create a new modern fast food identity for Lone Ranger; a hot dog shop, incorporating a wild west theme. Replacing the entire façade of the shop located at the waterfront of the Hangpu River, Shanghai, LINEHOUSE created a playful composition of white timber weatherboards, raw timber, and custom printed tiles featuring an arrowhead motif. The exterior is composed of opening doors and shutter panels, which when opened reveals the continuous tile pattern which wraps the counters and floors. The exterior counters seats 6 with a further 6 seats inside. The 4m high ceiling void is painted a bright yellow with a woven rope structure which creates an apparatus for the lights to hang from.
