Designed in response to Hurricane Sandy relief efforts in New York, Resilient House creates a dwelling that is both sustainable and resilient in the broadest sense. Socially, it is low cost. Culturally, it accommodates a contemporary lifestyle and aesthetic. Ecologically, it uses minimal resources to build and to operate. This is accomplished through simple, sensitive, and creative design.

Stockholm’s many islands has created a beautiful city to live in but it has also created barriers between the inner city and the suburbs. Large scale bridges connects many of these places to each other, often built with the car in mind.
Tranebergsbron is one of the most beautiful bridges in Stockholm and connects the city island Kungsholmen with the western suburbs. It was completed in 1934, at that time having the world’s largest bridge vaults in concrete.

During the visit to the project place, we realised that the idea of transforming Dubied’ goes hand in hand with acting in line with the production methods of Couvet landscape. Interwoven landscapes To this end, we decided to link natural production processes with other cultural building processes. On arrival at the place, we decided to take pictures of whatever could show any evidence of those processes and, finally, a possible project arose after every picture.

Since 2011, Spacesmith has been working with Li & Fung, a Hong Kong-based multinational company that is the recognized leader in the design, sourcing, and distribution of clothing and accessories for prominent retailers. This project consolidates all the LF USA women’s apparel brands – whose offices had been scattered around New York’s garment district – onto a single 100,000 SF floor of the Empire State Building.

Located adjacent to the Shenzhen Bay Sports Center athletic complex, the new Hotel Kapok, designed by Goettsch Partners (GP), is a 19-story boutique hotel with 242 rooms. The design attempts to provide the guest with a unique spatial quality that eliminates the cloistered and disorienting nature of typical hotel corridors. In response, a pinwheel plan was developed, allowing for corridors that end in vision glass with a punctuation of light and views.

The Newark Clubhouse brings together NYC’s downtown flair and Virgin Atlantic’s warmth and individuality.
A constellation of sparkling pinpoint lights draws you into the sculpted entry passage. Punctuated by a sky lit receptionist at a specular desk, the entry sequence creates an extended decompression zone between the busy terminal and the relaxed luxury of the clubhouse; a dramatic immersion into the Virgin Atlantic experience.

In the traditional local house in Ibukijima Island, the toilet is mostly established in a small cottage separated from the main house. In Ibukijima Island, the toilet is a peripheral space that is repelled and excluded from the main house.
The relation between the main house and the separated cottage resembles the relation between the main land and isolated Ibukijima island or between a big city and a remote district somewhere. Now, Ibukijima island is only connected with liner from Kanonji city of the main land, and the small isolated island serves as the periphery of the main land and the country of Japan.

The requirements for this project called for the design of a small home that would respond to the evolving life needs of a young couple, with two small boys, who intend to live their lives here for the next half century. A significant spatial challenge from the start of the project was that the maximum allowable width of the house could only be twenty-four feet, hence the house would necessarily need to be long; because windows on the long sides of the home were greatly restricted by zoning regulations, there was an immediate design challenge to bring light into the long interior volume that otherwise would be dark.

The “City-side” façade presents itself as two restrained stone-clad volumes – a “mask” clad in material very much identified with the architecture of Coral Gables. The lower volume is rough-hewn Florida Keystone and the larger, main volume is clad in honed limestone. The mask is penetrated by only two openings on the western façade and a “frieze” of windows above. Very little of the house is visible from the street – even the thrust of the sculptural roof is hidden from view.
