Pink Flamingo in Paris, France by Stephane Maupin

Wednesday, July 10th, 2013

Article source: Stephane Maupin

The new building takes place on the east Side of Paris, a new area build over rail tracks. All the difficulty was to make a construction without any foundation. The project is installed above big concrete slabs overcoming trains in motion. So vertical columns are like pink flamingo’s legs. They are installed on 27 small spring boxes connecting the ground floor. Those boxes prevent all trains vibrations to students’ cells.

Saturday, July 6th, 2013

Article source: Mikou Studio

Jean Lurçat Collège in Saint Denis is at the junction of two basic fabrics: one landscape and one cityscape. An area of scattered low-rise detached housing which is unstructured but constitutes the neighbourhood’s identity and presents a friendly human scale on Rue Diderot and Rue d’Alembert. The Parc des Sports which opens onto the La Courneuve landscaped park and provides the school with an open perspective and a strong link with green spaces and gardens of the city. The school is both in the middle of nature surrounded by greenery and very near to the low-rise housing around it.

Entrecampos Masterplan in Lisbon, Portugal by PROMONTORIO

Thursday, June 13th, 2013

Article source: PROMONTORIO

Built next to the campus of the University of Lisbon, the Entrecampos Square is the largest urban regeneration scheme under development in Lisbon since the Expo’98. Like so many other cities in Europe, Lisbon has been loosing inhabitants to the outer rings of the metropolitan area. In addition to macro-scale factors, like the declining birth rate and the persistence of rent-controlled contracts, the cost of housing in city centres has become prohibitive for young people.

THE LAKE ON THE LODGE IDEAS COMPETITION – EXPLANATORY STATEMENT

What if the British, instead of completely and summarily dismissing Aboriginal people and their culture, took a more open approach to Aboriginal people, culture and knowledge systems? This country would be one where the chances of an indigenous or non-indigenous Prime Minister would have been the same at every election since Federation. As a result Australia would now have an equal meeting of cultures and (cultural) influence.

Research and Design Center in Hebei Province, China by Latitude Studio

Friday, June 7th, 2013

Article source: Latitude Studio

In large industry structures, the construction of the industrial building is based on logistic, distribution and volumetric requirements determined by the production. It is one of the few building types whose value is measured more in terms of equipment assets than how it performs as social infrastructure.
