Muttawar Lifestyle Community in Muscat, Oman by Klingmann Architects & Brand Consultants

Wednesday, September 19th, 2012

Article source: Klingmann Architects & Brand Consultants

In order to balance a respect for history and tradition with the need to create a modern neighborhood, the design takes cues from the regional architecture and builds on the best practices in contemporary architecture. The aspiration for the project is to build a sustainable development that is of high quality while being cost-efficient. The community is organized according to the principles of the Arabic courtyard house, a response that is sensitive to the culture and climate of the place.

Seminar and Conference Cristal in Tyrol, Austria by MHM architects

Tuesday, September 18th, 2012

Article source: MHM architects

Already for many years the therapeutical treatment of physical and emotional disturbances or illnesses by the application of light has been acknowledged medically. Light has different effects on the human body depending on the spectral colour: so a firm red has an exciting effect  while violet light seems calming.

Jinzhou New Area Medical Center in Dalian by Design Initiatives

Article source: Design Initiatives

The everyday experience of the users is critically important for the hospital typology.  Our proposal for a Jinzhou New Area Medical Center is located as closest as possible to the existing wing of the hospital in order to shorten the routes and form one integrated complex with that existing wing.

Yandex Saint-Petersburg office II in Saint Petersburg, Russia by Za bor architects

Friday, September 14th, 2012

Article source: Vadim Costyrin

It is indicative that this office is to some extent a return to the roots of cooperation of za bor architects and the largest Russian IT-corporation Yandex. The first office developed for Yandex by za bor architects is in the same building of the Benois business center in Saint Petersburg, but on a lower floor. In 2008 it was a brilliant premiere published by almost all the leading architecture and design media in Russia. The project has picked up many awards. Four years later za bor architects and Yandex had decided to repeat the success on a larger scale – Yandex Saint-Petersburg office II is almost twice as large as the previous one – it houses the entire fourth floor of the building and has a corridor about 200 meters long (total floor area 3310 sqm), but size doesn’t matter, clients wanted an «extraordinary office like no other»

Footbridge Over the River Marne in Meaux by DVVD

Saturday, September 8th, 2012

Article source: DVVD

I. SITE – CONTEXT

The footbridge links the centre of Meaux, more particularly the station, to Grand Ile, a medieval district located within a bend of the Marne. The decision to locate the bridge on the bend of the river allows it to provide a greater number of views, and increases the ways in which the structure can interact with its environment.

BEDROOM by WIERZBINSKA

THE CONCEPT IS BASED ON A MINIMALIST CHOICE OF COLOURS. WHITE IS THE DOMINANT COLOUR WHICH MAKES THE INTERIOR LOOK VERSATILE AND ALLOWS FOR FREQUENT CHANGE OF THE SURROUNDING ONLY BY CHANGING THE ACCESSORIES. DUE TO LIMITED SPACE IN THE LIVING ROOM, THE COFFEE TABLE HAS A DUAL FUNCTION. LONG DRAPES AND CURTAINS IN NEUTRAL COLOURS MAKE THE WHOLE SPACE GAIN IN LIGHTNESS.
