Article source: Sergio Mannino Studio

In 2014 we received an invitation from Area 17, an architectural firm with offices in China. We were invited to bid on a large residential development in the city of Shenzhen, 30 minutes from Hong Kong in China’s Guangdong province.

At the end of the seventies, Shenzhen was a small market town of less than thirty thousand people. By 2016 it was a megacity of 12 million.

Yazd Urban Villa in Iran by awe office

Friday, October 5th, 2018

Article source: awe office

A concept is derived based on mass composition resulting from geometrical shapes in that. It deals with the effective element on a low density and a bit poor neighbourhood with no specific architectural characteristic. Furthermore, the rustic background of the site has been specified by the instantly recognizable hipped Roof in contrast to almost all of the other near buildings which they have stuck in their densely blocks. so we made a spatial crack between separable spaces, that is a concept of the vertical access that shifted from rest of the home and embedded some green space in between.

Rin Wedding in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam by District1architects

Sunday, September 30th, 2018

Article source: District1architects

The project is about a building 6 meters wide and 13 meters long located on the main street Ho Van Hue, which has a variety of choice in wedding service in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam. Although the street is approximately 500 meters long, both sides of it are full of shops specializing in wedding service. Most of them use aluminum panels to decorate the façade and to hang all kinds of advertising signs. Walking on this street, people would feel as if they were walking in a lane full of heavy shapes, high blocks which look like matched boxes standing next to each other.

Domus Tuam House in Zapopan, Mexico by Lassala + Orozco arquitectos

Wednesday, September 19th, 2018

Article source: Lassala + Orozco arquitectos

“UTERE FELIX DOMUM TUAM” (Happily live your house)

With this phrase tattooed in one of its concrete walls, we print our wishes for the future owner of the house, as a matter of fact all our house plans for a while now have that phrase in them, reminding us that is the most important goal in this type of building. From this phrase as well, the official name of Domus Tuam House was taken, “Your House”.

Emplaced in the south suburbs of Guadalajara, near a large commercial complex, in a small, quiet condominium surrounded by trees called “La Fresna”, the house is composed by 312 sq. m. divided in two stories. Its a house meant to be sold, so we planned it in a way that its finishes and dimensions were commercial and profitable according to the financial analysis, but without forgetting the high standard architectural detail and quality that our firm requires.

Nocenco Cafe in Nghe An, Vietnam by VO TRONG NGHIA ARCHITECTS

Friday, August 10th, 2018

Article source:  VO TRONG NGHIA ARCHITECTS

This renovation project includes a café on the last floor and the roof top of a 7th floor middle-rise concrete building located in the city center of Vinh city in the middle north of Vietnam.

From these levels one has a great view over the surrounding low-rise houses, towards the river, magnificent forest scape and various aged buildings.

The buildings in this area were damaged by the Vietnam War. Most of them were also renovated with colonial style façades inspired by European designs.

Nowadays, regardless of their height, some of the buildings still imitated this kind of the façade style.

Fababu House in Valencia, Spain by FRAN SILVESTRE ARQUITECTOS

Friday, August 10th, 2018

Article source: FRAN SILVESTRE ARQUITECTOS

A plot with steep slopes and rocky terrain are the starting point to plan the project.

The building emerges from the terrain forming three volumes that blend together, adapting to the topography of the place.

The hollows of the different pieces are born from the edges of each of the volumes interlacing one another and generating a system of holes that allows solving all the windows of the project.

Harmonic Turbine Tidal Hotel in Wenchang Shi, China by Margot Krasojević Architects

Tuesday, July 3rd, 2018

Article source: v2com

The hotel harnesses tidal energy to generate electricity. The idea was to redefine the hotel typology by embracing renewable energy to create a sustainable environment. This is the last of three tidal projects using the project brief to further underline the importance of inter-disciplinary dialogue between architecture, engineering, renewable energy and industrial design.

The hotel is located on Yalong Bay, on the island of Hainan in the South China seas. Along the bay’s coastline there are sheltered areas but also sections which are a high-energy site exposed to winds and high waves, this is where the harmonic turbine hotel sits, partly anchored into the coastline’s rock with its elements free to gently move with the tide. Revolving water turbines are partially buried in the sand and respond to tidal waves creating a sustainable infrastructure as part of the hotel’s design.
