Friday, September 1st, 2017

Article source: Margot Krasojević Architects

The design proposal is for a pedestrian bridge commissioned by the Ordos government to cross the Wulanmulun River, located in Ordos city, Kangbashi district Mongolia.

The bridge consists of a main floating section which gives buoyant support to three expanding walkways, and a carbon fiber triple sail which is raised and lowered by the buoyancy rotator. The bridge is a flexible structure that can relocate by sailing along the river to its new position. To do so, it folds into multiple sections that stack into each other.

White Monkey Pizza Lab & Bar in Leipzig, Germany by Ippolito Fleitz Group GmbH

Friday, August 25th, 2017

Article source: Ippolito Fleitz Group GmbH

Pizza! Always a delicious slice of memory. Of Italy. Of sun, espresso, the Vespa. Of the unique Italian instinct for lifestyle and dolce vita. Marché International tunes into this attitude towards life with its new restaurant concept, reinventing the pizza with White Monkey. To underscore this unconventional approach, the internationally aligned restaurant brand clearly positions itself as a pizza lab and bar: ingredients are combined in unusual ways; the pizzas are long instead of round, they are cut with scissors and shared amongst friends; the pizzeria becomes a cocktail bar, an urban meeting place that is open all day. In the constantly expanding yet fiercely competitive market of system gastronomy, it is crucial to do more than just present a coherent restaurant concept. With a Corporate Design that comprises not only interior design, but also the complete brand communication from logo to restaurant décor to website and social media presence, we have created a consistent and remarkable brand image for the White Monkey brand – with interdisciplinary thinking in place of salami tactics.

Backyard House in Queensland, Australia by Joe Adsett Architects

Friday, July 21st, 2017

Article source: Joe Adsett Architects

The ‘Great Australian Dream’ of owning a quarter acre block with a new house has become a distant memory in inner-city Brisbane, as parcels of land are shaved down repeatedly in a bid to densify the urban centre. Nestled within the urban streets of Teneriffe, a colonial Queenslander presented a charming frontage that concealed the potential for the Architect to utilise the vacant 300m2 backyard to design and build a new family home. The ‘Backyard House’ has been an opportunity to set a precedent for suburban infill development as an alternative to the prevailing trend of building apartments near railway and bus stations.

Article source: W. Design

Western Hills in the western part of Beijing where the Old Summer Palace is located—is far from the hustle and bustle of the city. This project’s design is a combination of cultural elements of Western Hills and modern oriental design techniques. A shaded corridor leads to a space possessing a fantastic view. The moment people enter the space, they feel as if they have walked into a beautiful painting that features both ancient elegance and modern freedom. “Let me forget my worldly worries and find peace in the woods of the Western Hills; the white clouds seem to have read my mind, and drift slowly down from the forest to keep me company.”

Article source: XRANGE

Xrange wraps a new layer of 80- 177cm wide by 7m high living spaces around an existing indigenous stone house to create an “extreme” new house of outrageous living proportion.  The newly added programs of pantry, bar, study, library, dog house and bathrooms are new “rooms” averaging about 4m2 in footprint, but with soaring 7m headroom.  The new house becomes a sequence of small narrow vertical spaces that interlock like the spaces within an ant colony.
