Alkhozama Desert House in Riyadh Desert, Saudi Arabia by Ark-Kassam Architects

Saturday, March 15th, 2014

Article source: Ark-Kassam Architects

Ark-Kassam Architects have created a contemporary residence design concept which is to be allocated on a knoll in the middle of a private Oasis palm, Al-Riyadh Desert.

Three Masses are forming the design of the house and defining the entry lobby with the Arcade courtyard and the interior garden. These volumes are the Service Mass, Living Mass with sunset view and Night Mass with sunrise view. All masses were organized in order to provide the needed shade for one another, creating the different atmospheric scales in between the indoor and the outdoor space protecting the house from extreme weather conditions.

OFFICE & HOUSE LUNA in Buenos Aires, Argentina by estudio HMA

Friday, February 21st, 2014

Article source: HM.Arquitectos

The project is located in the southern part of the city of Buenos Aires, precisely in Parque Patricios, a neighborhood that is being promoted as a technological pole. This characteristic motivated the client to start the construction of a building that unfolds into two separate volumes, his home and an office for his business. Both buildings have in common constructive and material decisions, however they show a strong formal contrast. In addition, the two volumes meet sustainable conditions: ventilated facades, reuse of rainwater and FCS certified wood ( OSB ).

La Planta in Jalisco, México by Agraz Arquitectos

Wednesday, February 12th, 2014

Article source: Agraz Arquitectos

Where there was once decomposed organic matter, now there is art, sports and leisure. It is the conversion of a sewage treatment plant into a multidisciplinary center.

After being built nearly two decades ago in Tlajomulco de Zuñiga, this place never really worked and saw its contents come into a rapid estate of decomposition. Years later, local authorities called for new meanings for the place, making it a great challenge.

MUSEUM OF WISCONSIN ART (MOWA) IN West Bend by HGA Architects and Engineers

Saturday, February 1st, 2014

Article source: HGA Architects and Engineers

The new Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA) in West Bend, Wisconsin, designed by Jim Shields, FAIA, Project Lead Designer at HGA Architects and Engineers (HGA), achieves a subtle balance between architecture as art and architecture as a neutral setting for art. The crisp, triangular geometry of the 31,000-square-foot, two-level museum moves from a glass-enclosed entrance at the southwest corner to a wedge-resolving point at the opposite end, where a glass curtain wall reveals an interior stairwell. Clad in custom, horizontal, modular fiber-cement panels in three shades of white, the surface of the building projects a soft and gentle variegation of color.
