ONE FAMILY HOUSE IN Cádiz, Spain by alzugaray estudio de arquitectura

Sunday, November 15th, 2015

Article source: alzugaray estudio de arquitectura

The house is situated on the occidental edge of the natural park of the Estrecho, on an abrupt hillside, where the landscape value, its orientation and complicated topography are determining factors. Instead of viewing these factors as potential limits we considered them to be incentives for a better solution for the project, helping reinforce the intrinsic singularity of the emplacement, to which service is set this construction.

Hill House in Winthrop, Washington by David Coleman Architecture

Saturday, November 14th, 2015

Article source: David Coleman Architecture

This is a modest, sustainable building with a big presence in a big landscape.

The Hill House sits on a long, narrow, rocky ridge line, sloping gently to the south and steeply to the east and west. Site conditions dictated a long, narrow structure, and client expectations suggested a building deeply rooted in the landscape. The resulting project is conceived as a habitable landscape, a place to gather, shelter and rest, closely aligned with the rugged beauty of the site and responsive to the natural conditions.

Pavilion for Best Western Hotel Baltic in Sundsvall, Sweden by The Common Office

Thursday, November 12th, 2015

Article source: The Common Office

Sundsvall was at the end of the 1900th century, one of the wealthiest cities in Sweden. The wealth came from the forests in the north that provided the rest of the country with timber for paper- and construction needs. But in 1888 Sundsvall was struck by a fire that almost completely destroyed the old wooden town. The best architects in Sweden were assigned, and no expenses were spared to create the new city.
