CAMPO DE FIORI HOUSE in Rome by Mohamed Keilani Architects

Wednesday, June 1st, 2016

Article source: Mohamed Keilani Architects

The apartment, located in one of the most historic areas of Rome, is on the third floor of a small building near Via Giulia in Rome. The design was based from the beginning on the valorization of the hall, the wooden beams, brick walls, characteristic features of Roman history, that had been hidden by the various processes that have occurred over the years. I have discover them and combined with the use of natural and warm materials, with a stylish contemporary furniture and with a particular lighting design which was specially developed with the Lebanese society PSLAB. The custom furniture is another important skill in the project, I wanted as much as possible to disguise everyday objects (dining table, chairs or TV using a special mirror designed specifically for the client) in order to make it more minimal space, a Roman antique container adequate for contemporary furnishings, a neon sign and artwork including point out the abstract sculpture of Keilani Salah and \”Studio sul movimento\” by Danilo Bucchi.

Artificial Snow Cave Emergency Shelter in Parche, Nepal by Margot Krasojević Architects

Tuesday, May 31st, 2016

Article source: v2com

The hut offers a snowdrift frame made from weighted carbon fibre mesh, this contoured landscape mimics the surrounding vertiginous precipices and landscapes, the carbon fibre snowscape creates an artificial snow cave which can be burrowed into and around enabling climbers to inhabit the excavated structure in a similar way to a snow cave. The composite carbon frame catches the snowdrift using snow as an insulating material, as it is a mesh structure pockets of rooms can be carved into the build up of snow as well as air vents to help air circulation, it is possible to further insulate the structure by digging a small pit deeper into one part of the cave floor to provide a place for the coldest air to gather, away from the occupants, the entrance may be partially blocked with chunks of snow to deflect wind and retain heat.

Interior Renovation in Japan by frontofficetokyo

Tuesday, May 31st, 2016

Article source: frontofficetokyo

First built in the 1970’s the apartment was cramped by contemporary standards, even for Tokyo, with low ceilings and short and narrow rooms. After stripping the space down to a single room, the design takes a hint from the overlapping spaces in the city and is composed from three simple shapes. A grey wood box houses the laundry, a concrete box contains the bath and sink, while an S shaped partition forms a closet and space for the fridge. The updated space is simple but comfortable and connects to the city perfectly.

House CM in Oedelem, Belgium by Bultynck Kindt archtitecten

Saturday, May 28th, 2016

Article source: Bultynck Kindt archtitecten

The property is located on the edge of the center of Oedelem. The spot is marked by far-views over the Flemish polders. Given the location of the plot and the purpose achieved an optimal living experience was the greatest possible contact between the house and its surroundings. The openness of the polders was extended in the plan of the house. To achieve this was left of a central volume, around which the house is organized. The volume contains all the technical and practical features such as storage, kitchen, toilet and stairs. The ground floor was as follows: the kitchen was facing east, the dining area and the lounge were implanted respectively in the south and west and the entrance is on the north side. On the floor, the bathroom is the central point around which organized the bedroom. As a result, the life follows the position of the sun throughout the day, the people experiencing the daylight time and again in a different way. The design of the volume ensures that the kitchen, dining and living room arenot one room but a succession of sequences.

Article source: Tetsuo Yamaji Architects

We designed a house in the suburban area of North Kanto. It is a house for a young couple with two small children. As we designed this house, we realized that there is a common question that we are all (including myself) confronted with when living in a contemporary society.
