Article source: ON-A

In Taipei City, in an area in urban transformation and making facade to Tamsui’s river, we propose a 39-storey tower.

Its facade, a big structural mesh allows a large glass surface, so that all the rooms are connected with outside. On the perimeter of each floor projecting a green strip that helps user to distance the built boundary, thus providing a greater sense of security.

Esteban Housing in Nantes, France by Leibar-Seigneurin

Friday, October 4th, 2013

Article source: Leibar-Seigneurin

The starting point for the architectural approach of this project was a piece of “virgin” land, the form and profile of which gave little indication of the mutations to come.

We therefore considered the site as a starting point, a “base” on which different types of architecture could be developed.

GREEN GREENBERG GREEN HOUSE by NEW THEME

Tuesday, October 1st, 2013

Article source: NEW THEME

The design for this two-story house emerged from the site constraints, program and view. The shape and orientation is designed for maximum exposure to the prevailing winds at strategic locations, which facilitate the building’s ability to use natural ventilation. The form of the building gently fits a large program onto the awkwardly-shaped site by using the site’s unusual form: shifts and movements of the site are used to enhance daylight and natural air flow distribution.

Colegio Villa El Sol in El Bosque, Chile by GUBBINS ARQUITECTOS

Friday, September 27th, 2013

Article source: GUBBINS ARQUITECTOS

The project is located on a site with a special feature; it is 25 meters wide and 100 meters deep, which allows us to develop a 4-storey building occupying almost the entire ground surface. This gives the project a protagonist scale in the neighborhood.

The strategy to not “keep” the dimensions of the property (pre-existing length and width), was to organize the program of the school within a large regular volume, based on a double bay corridor, alternating classrooms and playgrounds in different levels and on both sides of the central circulation. This allowed us to open cross perspectives on the site, with views of the mountains and the sunset.

Corix Water Systems by Taylor Kurtz Architecture + Design

Thursday, September 26th, 2013

Article source: Taylor Kurtz Architecture + Design

This 78,000sf steel frame and concrete tilt panel facility provides manufacturing, warehouse and office space for the tenant, Corix Water Systems and Utilities.

Designed in response to a significantly sloping site, the main entrance and office floor is raised above the street level permitting a high quality of street-front expression while maintaining a low profile consistent with the neighbourhood context.

The entrance plaza and canopy, detailed in concrete, steel, glass and cedar dominate the visual expression of the street-front elevation and set a tone that is more professional in appearance than industrial as one would expect in a development of this type. Adjacent to the entry canopy, a carefully considered composition of glazed slot monitor windows complete the street front elevation, permitting natural light to the warehouse and breaking down the scale of the street-facing north wall. The varied roof lines of these elements helps to further reduce the scale and visual bulk that is typical in industrial warehouse buildings.

Below the office level is the Shop Floor, anchored by a 17,000sf manufacturing shop, contractor warehouse, storage warehouse, offices and grade level access to loading and receiving bays at the south and east yards. Adjacent to the central circulation and elevator core, a suite of feature spaces including testing labs, assembly rooms and geothermal centre are arranged to facilitate tours and to showcase the varied products and systems manufactured by Corix.
