Brick Neighbourhood in Ljubljana, Slovenia by dekleva gregoric arhitekti

Wednesday, March 18th, 2015

Article source: dekleva gregoric arhitekti

How to establish a clear spatial, material and social identity of the neighbourhood? This question was the basic principle when developing the design of objects and their surroundings in terms of deeper connection of future residents with their living environment.

The concept of the 3D erosion is resulting from the critique of the existing master plan with generic volumes in terms of size and height and their arbitrary position. This concept of sub-structuring of the volume is further reflected in the material expression: the initial envelope is defined with the brick layer and the cut-outs with balconies in render.

SPORTS FACILITY IN THE ISLAND OF LA CARTUJA by Cayuela Marqués Architects

Wednesday, March 18th, 2015

Article source: Cayuela Marqués Architects

The project is a supporting building for expanding sports facilities located in Island of Cartuja. The new facility, designed to accommodate new changing rooms, gym, cafeteria, restaurant and social club, aims to organize and characterize the whole complex, as a hinge element between the different programs of the complex. The result is an elongated prism from which a body emerges pointing to the Olympic Stadium and rugby fields, generating an enclosed garden that provides orientation. This space, that the cafeteria and the gym overlook on the ground floor, is destined to become a social scene, a meeting point for athletes and visitors.

Tuesday, March 17th, 2015

Article source: Hennebery Eddy Architects, Inc.

After 40 years of constant use Shute Park Branch Library had devolved into a dark, cluttered, and inefficient interior space that had little connection to its namesake park. This comprehensive renovation included a complete reorganization of the floor plan and was based on the integration of three transformative characteristics -establishing a new relationship to the park, openness, and natural light.

Villa SR in Rijssen, The Netherlands by reitsema & partners architecten bna

Saturday, March 14th, 2015

Article source: reitsema & partners architecten bna

An environmentally friendly example house, connected to its surrounding landscape. The outcome of a close triangular collaboration between the clients, the architects + the construction engineer and the various manufacturers.

When older houses are preserved, it is often because of their recyclability. They have high ceilings, daylight, large rooms and wide doors. But there is one more important reason why we don’t demolish them. We love them, because their architecture is good and because they are made of beautiful materials. Preserve your house, or make a new one with a high long term value, and you make your house more environmentally friendly. By not only looking at the cost of the total investments, but being aware of the monthly costs, sustainable solutions become feasible.

Hotel B¨O in Chiapas, México by Muro Rojo Arquitectura

Saturday, March 14th, 2015

Article source: Muro Rojo Arquitectura

The B¨O Hotel suggests a new and fresh perspective of San Cristobal de las Casas. It is a proposal with an identity of its own, a revision of what hospitality should be, in which the design shapes the whole space integrating in a same gesture the concept of a house and a hotel within one single experience. B¨O is a place which inscribes the premises that have guided the work of Muro Rojo Arquitectura: How our own life gives meaning to a place and how design transforms our perception of the world?

Intertwine – Heirloom Taipei in Taiwan by Paradox Studio

Friday, March 13th, 2015

Article source: Paradox Studio

“Intertwine” is the key to design concept of Heirloom Taipei. The brand “Heirloom” is a new brand established by two young designers with family manufacturing background and east/west crossover cultural experience. The brand logo – “Interweaving H” explicitly demonstrates the multi-level mixture of Heirloom’s brand spirit. Therefore, the theme “Intertwine” was set to abstract Heirloom’s brand statement into three-dimensional store shopping experience.
