Mermaid Beach House in Gold Coast, Queensland by b.earchitecture

Friday, June 5th, 2020

Article source: b.earchitecture

The Mermaid Beach Residence is a new family home positioned along a surf beach in Queensland’s Gold Coast region, Australia. It has been designed to reflect “a desire to stay and age”.

Working with clients with a strong appreciation of concrete, the building was designed primarily of exposed concrete internally, as well as externally, with the addition of operable timber shutters on the external windows to protect against the sun and weather conditions. Bringing together the client’s want for a relaxed, open and sun-drenched costal home, poured in-situ concrete as the primary building material means that protection from the elements could be, quite literally, grounded.

Lawless Retreat in Jones, Michigan by Searl Lamaster Howe Architects

Thursday, June 4th, 2020

Article source: Searl Lamaster Howe Architects

Jason and Michael had searched five years across four states to find a site for their weekend home that spoke to them. This retreat was to be everything that their Chicago residence – a lofted space nestled within the attic trusses of a converted church – was not. The loft is in the heart of the bustling Wicker Park neighborhood; they sought serenity and a slower pace. The loft features a highly curated collection of sleek European contemporary furnishings; they were inspired by the idea of a sanctuary with a modern sensibility but also rooted in its place with hand craftsmanship felt on scales big and small. The loft’s views of the downtown skyline are finely calibrated to maintain a sense of privacy in the dense neighborhood; they sought an abundance of transparency and a direct connection to nature.

Movieland Palace in Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel by Studio samuelov

Thursday, June 4th, 2020

Article source: Studio samuelov

The story behind the design of MOVIELAND is a tribute to the older days of the cinema world. The complex includes 11 movie theaters, among them some rich VIP halls. We chose strong elements and humanity values for the design, and special nostalgic look, which usually aren’t found in large commercial movie theaters. The whole complex gives the feeling of Deja Vu to the dazzling world of 1920’s Hollywood, with the elegance and luxury of the magnificent theaters in Europe of the same period, the golden age of world cinema.

Article source: BURNAZZI FELTRIN ARCHITETTI

FG house, designed for a young family, is located in the southern part of Borgo Valsugana municipality, on a private slightly sunken ground. This area, used for playing and relaxing by three families related by blood, is green and well taken care of. From this area one can enjoy a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains (Cima XII; mount Ortega), moreover the sun light is ideal, especially in spring and winter, thanks to the good position of the peaks and of the surrounding buildings. From here you can also catch sight of Castel Telvana.

Can Ras, Mallorca in Spain by FRAN SILVESTRE ARQUITECTOS

Sunday, May 31st, 2020

Article source: FRAN SILVESTRE ARQUITECTOS

Made to disappear. This is how the concept for this house on the island of Mallorca is presented, a few meters from the shore of the Mediterranean sea.

The house is made up of a set of pieces that move in one direction, offering exterior spaces as patios between the various volumes that contain the different interior uses. Thus, with this movement, a volume is fragmented into small parts, giving each of them a unique character and their own autonomy. The house is conceived with natural materials, but built with current technology, paying attention to economy, precision and continuity. The lay-out on the ground floor maximizes the relationship with the exterior and prioritizes the views of the sea through large openings protected from solar incidence by eaves that generate large exterior terraces.

Bridge on Tatyshev Island in Russia by OOO “ADM”

Wednesday, May 27th, 2020

Article source: OOO “ADM”

While working on the project we aimed to design a footbridge interconnected with the natural riverside areas and the landscape of the place.

The bridge in the location becomes a plastic continuation of the dynamic descent from the high bank and expresses in its shape the silhouette of the West Sayan Mountains on the opposite side of the Yenisei River. The versatile image contains a certain high-tech and, at the same time, a pulsating sign of nature, perceived in unity with the environment. This form integrates the space of living energy, the bridge as it slides over the water surface, transferring you to a unique island landscape.

The AYA Housing in Washington, D.C. by Studio Twenty Seven Architecture & Leo A Daly Joint Venture

Monday, May 25th, 2020

Article source: Studio Twenty Seven Architecture & Leo A Daly Joint Venture

The design of the building is a response to (1) a site situated on one of Pierre L’Enfant’s original arterial streets (2) a program consisting of small dwelling units and (3) the requests of the local neighborhood shareholders.

The program required seven to ten housing units per floor with community rooms, laundry facilities, monitoring stations, private and family bathrooms on each floor.  The designers added outdoor play areas on each level to avoid taking children down the elevators to reach outdoor play. The ground floor includes a dining area, computer room, exam room, and administrative areas.
