4 Dwellings in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain by Patxi Cortazar

Wednesday, May 1st, 2013

Article source: Patxi Cortazar

The plot is located at the historic centre of Vitoria-Gasteiz, near to Santa María Cathedral, at the corner of this “Canton” and Txikita Street. The project is made by petition of the homeowners’ association. The original building, and unclassified 19th century building, is demolished because of its state of ruin. The ordinance of new construction defines in an exhaustive way the standards of the new shape, that requires the reduction of its occupation to leave available the continuity of its inside pipe. Thus, the new building is separated from the bowling alley located at the high part of the Cantón of Santa María.

Tuesday, April 16th, 2013

Article source: Andrew Maynard Architects

These neighboring terrace homes are owned by two generations of one family. Both houses were in need of repair and update. HOUSE House is a single building that extends both homes. They are separate homes within one architecture. The new structure runs north/south while the original houses run east/west. The fence between each terrace slides away to create one large backyard.

The Nordic Built Challenge proposal consists of three distinct parts: site, building exterior and building interior. The proposal improves the quality and legibility of the site by emphasizing the connecting backbone of the site as a pedestrian friendly boulevard. Tuesday, April 9th, 2013

Article source: ARCMAIS Architecture

Given the Customer’s request, we designed a Preliminary Study for adequacy, rehabilitation and construction of “School 2027” (Public-Private Partnership) for the District of Maianga in Angola’s capital Luanda. The school will be located on a flat terrain, with an area of about 5 square meters, given the proposed Program of Architectural Renovation of space. Following this proposal, we adopt as a basic premise the initial use of the central space not yet occupied for subsequent demolition of existing blocks, formerly, without interfering with the normal course of lessons.

Promenade Residence in Isle of Capri, Australia by BGD Architects

Thursday, April 4th, 2013

Article source: BGD Architects

Situated on an exclusive residential street, the owner purchased this waterfront property with the view to engage an architect to create their dream home. The home was designed for a family of four with the brief to achieve ideal spaces for work, rest and play. The internal planning required a clever balance to achieve a house of private spaces with maximised outlooks to the Surfers Paradise skyline.  Corten steel screens wrap the first floor bedrooms providing a veil for the bedroom spaces facing the river and the road.

CB30 in Mexico City, Mexico by Dellekamp Arquitectos

Tuesday, April 2nd, 2013

Article source: Dellekamp Arquitectos

This building has 3 apartments looking unto the street as well as a 2 stories house in the back that lives to an interior patio. Due to the different needs of each client, the apartments have different floor plans. However the public areas concentrate in the front allowing it to become one single space, creating continuity with the exterior. There is a spectacular tree in front of the building, which became an object of design for the interior, as well as for the façade. By working with structural geometry, we managed to support the 15mt span with no columns that would obstruct the view to the exterior; we then sharpened the floor slabs and walls to the minimum, disappearing their edges in the façade.

Tuesday, April 2nd, 2013

Article source: Morgan Maiolie

This project looks at what makes Boise unique and builds upon those elements to create a cultural district that promotes Boise as a place. The Boise 8th Street Cultural District design embraces sustainability as a form generator. Green roofs, downtown agriculture, solar access, and responsible water use combined to form the project. The district’s highest priority is to be of and for Boise, because there is nothing more sustainable than a beautiful, lively, city where people will want to walk, bike, create, and live.

Joule’s Lab in Guadalajara, Mexico by deFORMA estudio creativo

Thursday, March 28th, 2013

Article source: deFORMA estudio creativo

The inspiration for this project was the typical American Drugstore, a place where it could be understood as a design store with a combination of a laboratory where this cleanses are made. The colors and the construction elements would give that language, clean white with glass wall in the Lab, black flooring with traditional mosaic from Guadalajara and brick walls for the whole store.
