The solution proposed for the Art Centre is basically articulated around a dialogue between the old convent and the new building. A building-corridor winds next to the old building and goes over it to end up inside the cloister. It is conceived to be an icon, with an image that is formal and categorical yet simple and recognizable, which contrasts the former convent. Each building has an independent interpretation and they confront each other without establishing formal competition.

Located in the heart of Berlin, this newly completed izakaya restaurant combines traditional Japanese materials and hand craft with 3D modeling and computer programming to form an atmospheric space for dining. Responding to the client’s wishes for a cozy space that establishes a visual identity for the restaurant while also maximizing table count, the entire design intervention is achieved without the use of a single wall. A 56 sq meter ceiling installation serves as the main design feature of the restaurant.
By using the chopstick as a simple, repeating element, the project creates an immersive and highly intimate canopy over the space.

Libraries today serve as gathering places, community centers, and cafes. We need to stop viewing libraries as sacred temples of reading and research and more as a collective gathering place of people, ideas, events, and resources; a place that incites imagination and satisfies curiosity – a veritable flowering of culture. With a form that evokes the Oklahoma Rose, this library has a multi-layered skin that passively filters light, sound, and visitors to the library. These ‘petals’ diffuse the light entering the library, reducing solar heat gain and providing excellent reading light.

Manta is a surface that changes form – and therefore acoustic character – in response to multimodal input through Open Sound Control [OSC], including stereoscopic vision, multi-touch, sound, and brainwaves. While adaptable acoustic treatments are common, Manta explores variability and responsiveness in the surface itself, advancing acoustic systems beyond individual elements and corrective treatment.

The Frankfurt Städel Museum is about to undergo the largest expansion ever in the course of its nearly two-hundred-year history – with regard to its architecture and its collection alike. In the autumn of 2009, in conjunction with numerous important additions to the museum’s holdings, work commenced on the construction of an annex for the presentation of contemporary art. Designed by the architectural firm schneider+schumacher of Frankfurt, this extension will open its doors for the first time on 25 and 26 February with two Open House days and a big public celebration.

This New Orleans neighborhood library is comprised of two buildings joined together with the intention that they function as a whole. One building is a historically significant bungalow built as a residence in 1917, sited prominently on the corner of South Broad Street and Napoleon Avenue. The other building, built in 1993 specifically to function as a library, was home to the main reading room and stock areas. Both buildings were severely flooded by levee breaks attributed to Hurricane Katrina. The bungalow was salvaged and raised for future flood prevention, but the modern addition was deemed necessary for replacement by the Federal Emergency Management Administration (FEMA).

The design for the detached house CASA MAS has been designed with the aim of creating a state of great comfort at very high energy efficiency. The building includes a basement concrete open to a small patio and two floors made entirely of wood. The panels in X-LAM structure of the company ProholzEmilia, the external insulation, ceilings, roofing and finish are all designed in wood, this, combined with the plant design ensures a minimum standard of Class A, extended to Class A + with the completion of the PV system from 5 kWh.
