Tuesday, October 25th, 2011

Article source: Workshop 8

In February of 2010 The Housing Authority of The City of El Paso held a national design competition to help them create the “greenest affordable housing development in the country”. This 73-unit, LEED Platinum, senior housing neighborhood represents a bold new direction in affordable housing and HACEP is leading the way. The project is a mix of one and two bedroom units, nine single room occupancies (SROs), and a central, iconic community building housing office and meeting space — all of which are designed to be wheel-chair adaptable and have 100% visitability.

Article source: upsetters architects

This is a design of the store, which requires a visit by appointment, on an alley in Harajuku, Tokyo.

This space is intended to function as a sales agency and an authorised store of imported watches and a store selling related accessories.  As it serves both as an agency and a store and sells expensive articles, we designed this as a space requiring an appointment to visit in which customers can personally shop and talk about business with its clerk.

House in Musashisakai in Tokyo, Japan by upsetters architects (designed using Vectorworks)

Saturday, October 15th, 2011

Article source: upsetters architects

This is a house for a single family, which consists of a couple and their daughter, in a suburb of Tokyo.

This project attempts to allow the family to flexibly change their way of living in one house as the daughter grows older.  Generally speaking, the change of the relationship between parents and their children often seems to be caused by the children’s growth as the parents rarely change their way of life once they established it.  Especially in Japan, it is very obvious.

Article source: x architekten

Task:

The existing building from the 1920s proved itself valuable to the client mainly due to the surrounding garden landscape. Nevertheless, there was the aim to create more space and living quality which was to be realised through revitalisation and extension. The client’s main wishes were the adaptation of the existing building to modern energy standards, a clearer and richer living space, the greatest possible view of the surrounding nature and the integration of garden and terrace areas into the living space and environment.
