House for green, breeze and light in Ota city, Tokyo by Yaita and Associates

Wednesday, August 20th, 2014

Article source: Yaita and Associates

This residence is in the residential area called Denenchofu which is located about 20 km to the west of the center of Tokyo. This area was developed about 90 years ago, based on the ideas of Eiichi Shibuzawa–to build a garden city on the hill ever blessed with gentle breezes and abundant vegetation.  To maintain the philosophy of this environmental formation, rules for the conservation of green, stricter than those of the other residential areas of Tokyo, were stipulated, such as requiring houses to be set back 2m from the roads. These rules have continued to be observed to this day.

SDM APARTMENT in Mumbai, India by Arquitectura en Movimiento Workshop

Tuesday, August 19th, 2014

Article source: Arquitectura en Movimiento Workshop

Located in central Mumbai, our client builds a 6 story building, 2 for each apartment we simultaneously perform 3 interior design projects for 3 different clients, all from the same family; parents, (an older couple) and 2 families of young couples with children, each with different needs and personalities, this is how we address the same space with different distributions, each had a different reason on which interiors are designed, a concept far from typical housing in India, a space for living inside, contrasting with its urban context, with its social environment.

ENTRE MUROS HOUSE in Tumbaco, Ecuador by Al bordE architects

Tuesday, August 19th, 2014

Article source: Al bordE architects

The wish to set up, the search for living in harmony with nature, the need of autonomy for each one of the three members of the family, the low budget (understood as the optimization of resources and spaces) and the phrase: “There is always another way of doing things and another way for living”, settled by her, were the starting point for the design.

Residential building KUK in Hainfeld, Lower Austria by [tp3] architekten ZT GmbH

Tuesday, August 19th, 2014

Article source: [tp3] architekten ZT GmbH

Starting point for this project was the desire for a closed and introverted building structure that provides protection and security. The requirement to design a one-story building and the high demand of rooms made it possible to realize a u-shaped atrium around the existing summer house. The guest unit, the indoor pool as well as the residential area were aligned one after another along the property line. Therefore the building functions like a huge wall that creates an intimate courtyard granting protection and security.

Residential building AATN in Haag am Hausruck, Austria by [tp3] architekten ZT GmbH

Thursday, August 14th, 2014

Article source: [tp3] architekten ZT GmbH

The existing property and residence of postwar years was already rebuilt in the 90ies of the last century. Now it has been extended to an ensemble by an additional building. The open courtyard was completed and the existing garage partially built on. Special attention was paid to the completion of the structure and the employment of corresponding materials.
A particular challenge for the design was the narrow site and the aim not to affect the view of neighboring housing units. The various sights and the path of the sun had a big influence on the concept of the design.
