THE ENERGY OF CERRO MISTICO (MYSTIC HILL) in Lavalleja, Uruguay by FDS Arquitectos

Friday, August 16th, 2013

Article source: FDS Arquitectos

A good friend calls us to design a small hotel, 4 or 6 rooms on the hills of Lavalleja, Uruguay. The area is very well known for its spiritual tourism, as it is a very energetic place.

Visit to the area

there is definitely something very special about the energy of the hill:  it is quite inaccessible, it is covered by low native  vegetation. There are formations belonging to the earliest inhabitants of the place and archeological remains difficult to date. The views from up there are breathtaking.  Our friend and his family are in love with the place, we feel incredibly motivated and challenged by the task.

The project concept was diversity when we were designing something on paper since ideas between the client and the firm were varied but eventually complete logo on both sides. One of the customer requirements of this project was to make recognizable and easy to locate which took us to the front, the business focuses on the cars so we decided to involve some of the tastes of the client to the main facade giving volume and play spaces a while, leaving the interested attraction finally arrived to the final image of the facade with some pretty interesting changes but today.

SQUARE HOUSE VEIERLAND in Nøtterøy, Norway by Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter

Friday, August 16th, 2013

Article source: Reiulf Ramstad Arkitekter

The house is situated in a pine wood on Veierland, a car-free island outside Nøtterøy in Vestfold. Perched on stilts above a rocky ridge it gently hovers in the woodland, leaving no footprint. This impression is further enhanced by a homogenous surface of dark wood, which gives the house an inconspicuous, almost muted character.

Westboro Home in Ottawa, Canada by Kariouk Associates

Saturday, August 10th, 2013

Article source: Kariouk Associates

DESIGN CHALLENGE:

The site for this home was a narrow lot in a downtown neighborhood, which carried with it extensive code limitations on side windows. A further challenge was negotiating the difference in grade between the two neighbouring lots:an already steeply sloping site, the neighbours to the West raised their rear yard an additional 1.5m, ultimately creating a difference in neighbouring lot heights of approximately 2.5m

Trish House in Yalding, England by Matthew Heywood

Saturday, August 10th, 2013

Article source: Matthew Heywood

The design of the house developed in direct response to the site and its location within the beautiful village of Yalding in Kent. The building’s structure is composed to reflect the surrounding woodland with the raking columns representing the irregular angles of tree trunks and branches. Large expanses of glass fill the gaps between the structure and allow you to appreciate the landscape and setting as if you were peering out from between the trunks and branches of the trees.
