House in Limassol, Cyprus by Vassiliades Architects

Monday, December 6th, 2021

Article source: Vassiliades Architects

The design of this residence in Limassol, is identified by modernistic archetypes, while minimalistic morphological choices were made, in order to distinguish its pure architectural features, which led to a result without unnecessary decorations and exaggerations. The composition of two basic volumes, which are identified by their function and material – white color for the communal spaces, exposed concrete for the private spaces, constitutes the main idea of the project. An important part of the composition is the creation of a small atrium on the ground floor, which improves the natural lighting conditions of the communal spaces and improves the natural cross-ventilation conditions. At the same time, the 1st floor’s volume is projected at the southeastern side, thus creating a covered outdoor area and providing sun protection. Finally, the bioclimatic elements used in the design of this house, led to its classification as a nearly zero-energy building (nZEB).

Villa Backyard in Chachoengsao, Thailand by TOUCH Architect

Wednesday, September 15th, 2021

Article source: TOUCH Architect

The site is an hour’s drive away through the East from Bangkok; Chachoengsao, in which the suburb’s living environment is closed to a city, many factories and the sea (Gulf of Thailand), which produces excessive level of soil salinity. A non-terrain land with an artificial pond is where the villa is located. This man-made pond was built to be used as consuming water as well as an atmospheric visualization and all relaxation senses. As mentioned above, saline soil causes brackish water in the pond, which the water was no longer used for consuming not only for household use, but also agricultural use. In order to alter this low biodiversity water into freshwater, rainwater is needed to dilute an existing water in the pond.

EB apartment: details make it unique

Interior design and garden projects are projects of great satisfaction since architects can see the results of their designs in less time than what it normally takes to complete a building. However, interior design, when it is custom made, can be compared for complexity to a miniature building because it’s challenging and requires a lot of attention to details, even minute ones. This meticulous research of functional, aesthetic and emotional features makes possible to create a unique space.

Sonoma Pool House in California by Klopf Architecture

Wednesday, June 9th, 2021

Article source: Klopf Architecture

Inspired by the Barcelona Pavilion designed by Mies van der Rohe, the combination pool house and guest house was designed to connect the pool area to the original design of the mid-century modern main residence. The new pool house/guest house was one component of an integrated master plan that included renovations to the main house, the new pool, and a new art studio. Thoughtful planning was taken to ensure that all structures were carefully aligned to feel at rest with one another and to create a sense of cohesiveness throughout the property.

Villa Reden Apartments in Chorzow, Poland by Architekt Maciej Franta

Friday, May 14th, 2021

Article source: Architekt Maciej Franta

The unique context of the place and the potential negative consequence of implementing a new tissue in this unique area meant that the decision to shape a new building was not easy and had to refer directly to these guidelines, not compete with them, and “respond” to the environment with its uniqueness in a contemporary way. The task was even more difficult as the budget was limited and the investor’s expectations were high. The idea and shape of the building resulted directly from the irregular polygonal shape of the area intended for development and the idea of leaving the largest possible tree stand on the plot. Such a simple inspiration has become the basic guideline for shaping the building. Creating the form step by step, first of all: the solid was formed in accordance with the function of the apartments, optimizing their function into the shape of an irregular polygon.

Monday, March 22nd, 2021

Article source: Roland Baldi architects

Architecture saves us: With the new building of the Civil protection centre Ritten, Roland Baldi Architects have designed a “common home” for the command of the Fire Brigade, White Cross and Alpine Rescue where they can operate smoothly and proactively across all areas of expertise.

With its simple and sculptural form, the new Civil protection centre Ritten forms a contemporary contrast to the rural and local architectural language typical of the area. The two-storey building, constructed according to the “Klimahaus” A standards, is integrated into the natural course of the terrain slope and communicates with the north-facing entrance area with the main road and the residential area behind it.
