RESTAURANT AIUEnO in Barcelona, Spain by MIEL arquitectos

Tuesday, April 26th, 2016

Article source: MIEL arquitectos

This project is the result of some unconsciousness mixed with a lot of admiration. The unconsciousness came from the side of the clients, Neus and Kenji of Can Kenji team, commissioning his new Japanese restaurant “izakaya” to a team that had never designed a restaurant and not even been in Japan. The admiration is ours to a culture as unknown as admired.

Casa Bosques is indeed the ‘house in the forest’. The driveway immediately sets the tone with the forest canopy unfolding as one approaches. These mature trees are the principal feature to which every living space, both indoors and out, refer to. It is the ever-present greenness that makes Casa Bosques special.

Saturday, April 23rd, 2016

Article source: ikon.5 architects

Set in a bucolic residential neighborhood in Ithaca, New York, the simple zinc-metal and mahogany clad guest house rests upon an existing white-washed pool house foundation. The guest house is nestled across from an elegant whitewashed brick main house, complimented by a steel and wood pergola along its west edge, creating an intimate setting for an outdoor stone-terraced swimming pool court. The guest house cantilevers over the pool house to actively engage the main house while hovering above the existing pool.

Article source: GRAFT Gesellschaft von Architekten mbH

GRAFT’s proposal for the Viking Ship Museum in Oslo finds its place in a unique historic and spatial context; integrated into an outdoor museum complex in the center of the Bygdøy peninsula. The long and vivid history of the Viking Museum and its presented findings unfold in a continuous motion within and around the new landscape that houses the extension. The draft aims to protect the residents’ and visitors’ view of the area in the north while sensitively augmenting the landscape features on the given site.
