Atrium House in Gotland, Sweden by Tham and Videgård Arkitekter

Sunday, June 14th, 2015

Article source: Tham and Videgård Arkitekter

Atrium House is a vacation home for a family of three generations on the island of Gotland in the Baltic Sea. It is built on a slight ridge that marks the former location of the coastline a thousand years ago. In relation to the open and expansive landscape, the building seems more like a low wall than a house. It is built around a completely enclosed atrium courtyard that is designed to serve as a fixed point, a sheltered outdoor room. The rest of the property is left undisturbed as a meadow where grazing sheep prevent the land from returning to forest.

Villa Sundsvedja in Dragsfjärd, Finland by Jenni Reuter Architects

Sunday, June 14th, 2015

Article source: Jenni Reuter Architects

Villa Sundsvedja is located in the Dragsfjärd archipelago.

The manor of Söderlångvik was formerly owned by Amos Anderson, a well-known patron of culture. Today it is a museum. In addition, the manor has an apple orchard, greenhouses, agricultural operations, direct sales and a cafe. The estate is owned by the Föreningen Konstsamfundet foundation, which had long been wanting premises to be rented to executives and their families. A beautiful plot was found by the shore about one kilometre from the main building.

Piolet cottage in Chamonix, France by Chevallier Architectes

Saturday, June 13th, 2015

Article source: Chevallier Architectes

Context
The building was originally an old wooden shed in very poor condition – a strong candidate for demolition.
The challenge was to find ways to develop and optimize the spaces within a volume that could not be modified due to planning by-laws.

Colombia_325 in São Paulo, Brazil by TRIPTYQUE

Saturday, June 13th, 2015

Article source: TRIPTYQUE

Situated in the Jardins, a neighborhood that is undergoing radical change, in an avenue of intense traffic, this building, facing north, appears as an organic incarnation of the urban and natural “aggressions” suffered by a tropical city. The noise, the insulation and the intense traffic are the building materials that feed this project. In spite of its important aspect, the building is not  blind or deaf, but was born from the energy of its context, and uses it to re-qualify itself, as if in a boomerang effect .

BeyondtheWalls

On the last path before the earth falls away into these , a small country house is tucked into a nembankment. Introverted on the edge of the cliffs, it protects it self from the wind sand the ocean spray. Inside, piles of book sares tacked in every corner and recess. The rhythm of the day is marked by the turning of pages and punctuated by the coming sand going of the house cats.

ENIGMA in Colombo, Sri Lanka by Narein Perera

Friday, June 12th, 2015

Article source: Narein Perera

The form of the house is primarily generated in creating the concept of an “Enigma” in the mind of the person entering. Guided by intermediate open spaces, the entrance court, the pool, subsequently arriving at the main volume of the living room where the climax of the ‘hidden’ garden is fully experienced. The entrance court envisioned as a part of the street on which the 20perch site forms the end block, defined by the continued building lines of the adjoining plots, the random rubble vertical envelope and pergola horizontal plane,  serve to contain, pause, experience the powerful shadows the sun paints, overwhelm, announcing arrival.

Neubau höhere Fachschule für Gesundheit in Luzern, Switzerland by Maier Hess Architekten GmbH

Thursday, June 11th, 2015

Article source: Maier Hess Architekten GmbH

The project seeks to initiate a pattern clearly identifying the hospital campus on Spitalstrasse. With already two buildings of about 35m height, adding a third one makes the pattern evident. An important benefit of the slightly higher than average structure is the – in our eyes very necessary – casualness of the surrounding space, that so could become more convenient and less tight.

Point Cloud to BIM for an International Broadcast Center by Hi-Tech Outsourcing Services

Thursday, June 11th, 2015

Article source:  Hi-Tech Outsourcing Services

Challenges

The client wanted us to detect and rectify errors in the point cloud with accurate BIM modeling within 24 days.

The total data size provided by client was about 185 GB & to work with such heavy data files was really a difficult task.

The input files were in the form of 3D scanned images in which few of the scanned inputs were not clear & some of the building data was missing due to improper scanning, leading to complexity of resurfacing and modeling.

The building area was large and also consisted of complex steel structure.
