While at the former – first prussian, then nazi and finally soviet – barracks in Krampnitz nearby Potsdam war films such as „Enemy At The Gates“ or „Inglourious Basterds“ were shoot, they also were the setting of another drama that newspapers simply called „Krampnitz Affair“. The State of Brandenburg tried to cancel the sale of the Krampnitz Barracks when discussions about the too low sale’s amount started. A noisy public arguement between politicians and the investors who intended a large scale housing project followed and is without a decision so far.

Villa Upper Austria by Two in a Box-Architekten

Tuesday, May 21st, 2013

Article source: TWO IN A BOX – ARCHITEKTEN

Due to the steep sloping terrain, the view and the direction of the sun special attention was required with regard to the alignment of living rooms and sleeping rooms. The villa has three levels adapted to the line of sight and staggered towards each other on top of a basement garage. The main living floor is west-aligned and built at the slope opening up onto a garden and summer kitchen.  In order to offer a free view of the city from the west-faced garden, the plan view of this floor was pushed to the northern end of the lot giving space for an elongated pool on the south side in front of the living and dining area. Front-mounted pool glazing allows for the horizon to disappear and the swimmer gets a feeling of hovering above the city.

Saturday, May 18th, 2013

Article source: Enforma Architecture

In the landscape such as the Bay of Boka Kotorska, great challenge can be construction of building beyond a traditional “recipe”. It’s like when you grow up in a diverse ethnic surrounding where yours ” differences ” are not accepted and understood very well. In that situation, we should to celebrate “the differences” between people and like that today, with all social, economic and technological development, we must thinking about structure which will reflect the present, but without endangering “spirit” of the existing natural and built environment – “genius loci”.

Urban Villa in Florence, Italy by Architettura Matassoni

Thursday, May 9th, 2013

Article source: Architettura Matassoni

The project was created with the intention of transforming the strong physical limitations, geometric and area’s rules of the intervention in a series of architectural cues; the available surface is in fact quite limited in size and characterized from a trapezoidal shape and has a potential edificatoria relatively limited; The building area is inserted in an urban environment characterized by a low quality and from a certain density of the buildings, with the consequent danger of visual interference from the near buildings.
