The Harbour Luxury Lakefront Community in Sandusky, Ohio by Chelsea Building Products

April 14th, 2017 by Sanjay Gangal

Article source: Chelsea Building Products

Situated on the shore of Lake Erie in Sandusky, OH, The Harbour has seen its share of extreme weather. Most notably in 2008 and again in 2010, the 188-unit luxury community experienced severe hailstorms that damaged the cedar siding on many of its buildings.

Left with unrepairable and highly noticeable damage, the HOA sought a replacement for the exteriors that could be installed efficiently and withstand anything Mother Nature may have in mind. They found Everlast® Advanced Composite Siding, the only product that could match the refined look and color of the original cedar, while remaining impervious to all kinds of severe weather – from harsh sunlight and heat to wind, subzero temperatures, and even hail.

The Kapor Center for Social Impact works to improve access to opportunity, participation and influence in the United States for historically underrepresented communities through investments in information technology and partnerships with nonprofits. The new FIM Headquarters in Mies (VD), Switzerland by LOCALARCHITECTURE

April 14th, 2017 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: LOCALARCHITECTURE

Elegant and iconic, the new headquarters of the FIM (International Motorcycling Federation) had to wait ten years before taking shape on a site in the outskirts of Geneva where road and railway meet.

It was in 2006 that LOCALARCHITECTURE and Bureau d’Architecture Danilo Mondada won the competition (conducted by the MEP – Mandat d’Études Parallèles – parallel development selection process) for the extension of the International Motorcycling Federation’s main headquarters in Mies in the canton of Vaud. Following a change of administration at the FIM the project was abandoned. A new selection procedure with invited architects was launched in 2013, with a modified functional programme. At this point the mandate was awarded to LOCALARCHITECTURE.

Article source: Estudio Galera Arquitectura

Impala House is a box, a big container, built in the forest of Cariló, in front of a forest reserve. The residence indirectly touches the terrain with a plinth that nestles the services.

The lot, which presents a strong transversal change of level, inspired a spacious public plan that takes full advantage of the terrain. From the top of it, the landscape dominates the views and then melts away with the lot in the solarium/swimming pool.

The R buildings concerned by our rehabilitation project are located in the lower part of the site of the Cartoucherie at Bourg-les-Valence, listed as a Historic Monument. The first phase of the work led by the town and the architect Philippe Prost allowed for the rehabilitation of the principal building with its fine architectural qualities and of the courtyard, which were both in a ruinous state. This important building of our heritage was, in 2009, transformed into a place of creation with the opening of a new major center for quality film animation.
