July 10th, 2016 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Dominique Perrault Architecte

The redevelopment of the Pavilion Dufour and the Old Wing creates two new public spaces in the Château de Versailles. The old administrative offices have now made way for a new reception area between the Cour Royale (Royal Courtyard) and the Cour des Princes (Princes’ Courtyard), as well as a large staircase leading to the gardens. Visitors to the Palace are invited to follow a loop, just like in most of the world’s greatest museums.

House E in Linz, Austria by caramel architekten zt gmbh

July 8th, 2016 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: caramel architekten zt gmbh

Located on the periphery of the city, the plot of land offers a spectacular view of Linz, as long as one builds high enough to be able to gaze over the neighbouring properties. That is why the ground storey lies about 6m above street level – with the pleasant side-effect of allowing the garden area to adjoin the living area on the same level to the west and north, despite the extreme slope.

The sizes of the plots is 5,873 m2. The total requested built areas was 4,000 m2 that we reached with our proposal. We wanted to create a special flair, a place to feel home but relax on the same time with the highest standard of living quality.

We created two different units to create also two different flats to adapt to the market. At the same time they can fit different need. The houses are really flexible and different function can be brought in.

Alfred House in Melbourne, Australia by Andrew Maynard Architects

July 8th, 2016 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Andrew Maynard Architects

In a Nutshell

Alfred House is an addition and reconfiguration of an existing two storey, two bedroom terrace, with a tired lean-to that had little relationship with the exterior space. The client wanted us to replicate one of our previous projects, Vader House, as they liked the idea of a centralised courtyard.  It was an interesting idea for us to revisit and to evolve, as we were able to push the concept further due to the property’s connection with the laneway. The big challenge was that Alfred had less than half of Vader’s budget.
