BC Action Development in Moscow, Russia by UNK project

The new business center class A is in the 1st Zemelniy lane, not far from the «Ulitsa 1905 Goda» undegraund station, near Krasnopresnenskaya embankment and the business district Moscow City.

The business center project was developed by the UNK Project architectural bureau. A distinctive feature and recognizable element of the architectural appearance of the building is the openwork, grid-like shell on the facade. This principle is widely used in the progressive architecture of the 21st century and it also refers to the model of Soviet constructivism, reminding of the tower of engineer Shukhov. Triangular at first sight in cross-section building has no sharp corners. They are rounded and closed with a mesh structure that softens the appearance of the building.

Mazanka Apartment in Kyiv, Ukraine by Sergey Makhno Architects

June 5th, 2021 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Sergey Makhno Architects

Mazanka is an apartment in a Kyiv skyscraper with a view of the Dnipro river, where ancient construction technologies were used. In the Ukrainian language, мазанка (mazanka) means a small village house built of wood, clay, and reeds. The name comes from the word мазати (mazaty) — to cover something with a layer of clay.

Mazanka apartment is a dialogue of our architects with the past. And its result is a step towards the originality of modern Ukrainian design and Ukrainian culture as it is.

The small & well-ventilated house in Isumi, Japan by tai_tai STUDIO

Article source: tai_tai STUDIO

This house is located near the sea, about 90km away from Tokyo. This is a small weekend home for a couple who loves surfing. They can observe the waves every morning from the 2nd floor or balcony.

First, think of a small and simple 60m2 house, and then arrange (grow) the space and parts necessary for the couple’s life (the dirt floor, balcony, a little large bathroom, eaves, pergola, etc.). This method can imagine many other types of homes. This method allows a complex combination of exterior and interior spaces on large sites.

Casa na Praça Mouzinho de Albuquerque in Braga, Portugal by Carvalho Araújo, Arquitectura e Design

June 4th, 2021 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Carvalho Araújo, Arquitectura e Design

The project “Casa na Praça Mouzinho de Albuquerque” represents the materialization of an exercise of spatial organization within an urban plot with a complex configuration. The location of the building – in one of the main squares in the historic center of Braga, in Portugal – determined the option to preserve the existing volume and façades, and also some characteristic elements inside. The intervention focused on accommodating a family program properly adjusted to the spatial needs and facilities that are currently required, finding in the existing volumetry a reason (not a condition) for the distribution and design of the spaces.

At the back of the plot, a new construction appears that frees itself from the formal and plastic language of the existing one, simultaneously assuming a gesture of rupture and continuity with the existing building, by extending the material of the floor and the back facade.
