April 2nd, 2017 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Shenzhen Qianxun Decorative Art and Design Co., Ltd

This project advocates the combination of nature and humanities, and it adopts the interspersed animals and plants of nature to increase the vividness of the space. It presents a high quality leisure life style full of cultural ambience. With the dominant colors of glacier gray and taupe and partial embellishment of ocean blue, the color combination is harmonious and warm. Together with the flying birds decoration on the background wall, it gives the room a quiet atmosphere. The overall furniture style is steady and simple, and the rounded furniture not only softens the toughness of square building, but also fits the tradition of the East.

Designed in consortium by Menkès Shooner Dagenais LeTourneux Architectes and Provencher_Roy, the “Growing Up Healthy” expansion and modernization project enables the hospital to more adequately meet the needs of mothers and children with respect to specialized care and services, while supporting research, education, technological advancement and health promotion. The new, roughly 130,000-square-metre construction increases the institution’s total surface area by 65% and houses the Special Care Unit, the Research Centre, a new thermal power station, and a four-level underground parking facility.

Irwin in Fremantle, Australia by MSG Architecture

April 2nd, 2017 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: MSG Architecture

Irwin is a white box plugged in to an existing East Fremantle home.

The aim was to separate a breakout area and master bedroom to allow more room for kids and living in the existing house.

Simple materials, strategic windows and a transition space between old and new make this little add on perform well beyond it’s modest footprint.

Parquet Patterned Pool and Spa in South Sweden by Claesson Koivisto Rune Architects

April 2nd, 2017 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Claesson Koivisto Rune Architects

A spa with two pools has been completed adjacent to a 1796 mansion in south Sweden. The spa has one indoor pool for wintertime and one outdoor for summer. The outdoor pool sits on a podium, which levels the slope on which the mansion sits. It thus creates a platform from which you have an elevated view over the estate towards the back. Yet, it sits discrete as seen from the approach to the main entrance.

K House in Niseko, Japan by Florian Busch Architects

April 2nd, 2017 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Florian Busch Architects

The brief for this house in what is often referred to as one of the world’s best winter destinations was straightforward: simple, energy-efficient, maintenance-free. By far the best piece left in a fairly large development of mostly quaint variations of the theme “mountain chalet” (and their to our brief inevitably opposed manifestations), the site added to that straightforwardness: Its asset —unhindered views of the volcano Yotei to the east— dictated the orientation; our nonchalant disinterest in (and consequential avoiding of) the neighbouring houses fine-tuned placement.

Wigwam Offices in Bucharest, Romania by Razvan Barsan + Partners

April 1st, 2017 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Razvan Barsan + Partners

This project can be seen as a social experiment, along the lines of an emerging community that interacts and develops. The space is focused on people, teams and ideas and it is the result of a collective effort. The design uses custom elements in almost every object, from the design of office desks – glass and perforated metal, to lights that follow the shape of the desks, to the design of glazed surfaces that separate the meeting rooms from the individual offices, to the perforations that guide the eye along a dynamic, uninterrupted line.
