Waterworks Presentation Centre in Toronto, Canada by Cecconi Simone Inc.

May 25th, 2018 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: v2com

A recent winner at the World Interior News Awards, Cecconi Simone Inc.’s presentation centre for Waterworks – a mixed-use condominium project in downtown Toronto – offered a fleeting glimpse of beauty and a preview of what’s to come.

The condominium project by developers Woodcliffe Landmark Properties and MOD Developments Inc. will eventually include residential condominium suites, a state-of-the-art YMCA facility and a large food hall. The sales centre – now dismantled to make way for construction – began with an existing onsite heritage building that had seen life as both a food market and a water filtration plant. Interior design firm Cecconi Simone was tasked with converting it into an engaging sales space and visual portal into the future lifestyle on offer – all without making any structural changes to the building itself, which will be integrated into the final project. To do that, they incorporated visual cues hinting at the unique attributes of the project’s final design, and took inspiration from the original building.

Niczky apartment in Kőszeg, Hungary by Béres Architects

Article source: Béres Architects

Only a few years have passed by since Béres Architects designed its first realized projekt, the Hideg house in Kőszeg, Hungary. The client, Attila Hideg recently found another interesting property where he intended to create something unusual in a medieval context. As he explains „The apartment in the nearly 400-year-old building needed a thorough renovation after most of its values were damaged or hidden during the last reconstruction works in the 1980’s. We had to virtually step back in time to recall and save the values of the house”

In der Wiesen Süd in Vienna, Austria by Dietrich | Untertrifaller Architekten

May 25th, 2018 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Dietrich | Untertrifaller Architekten

The housing complex In der Wiesen Süd consists of five buildings arranged on the site in order to create a serene environment for the inhabitants. The area opens wide towards the north and closes more densely towards the south, where it allows visual perspectives on the street.
The group in the southern area is developed by ARTEC architects, while Dietrich | Untertrifaller designed the northern part with three tower-like building structures. In the green space to the north, these higher buildings form a central and quiet area for the residents. The two six-storey buildings take the shape of a flattened hexagon around a hollow core. The numerous balconies offer each apartment different views of the park and the city. The rooms on the ground floor and on the garden level are home to small shops, workshops and offices. An atrium is placed at the core of the building and brings natural light into the access zones. The roof accommodates some community facilities of the residential complex, as well as private gardens.

De La Canardière Residence in Val-Morin, Canada by Atelier BOOM-TOWN

May 24th, 2018 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: v2com

This residence was designed to enable a sister and brother to meet as a family on special occasions and to unwind in contact with nature. This project sprouted along the shores of a lake up in the Laurentians in a wooded area with a significantly consistent slope. This elevation, which offers a bird’s eye view of the lake, is the backbone for the development of this architectural concept—grasping hold of the land through the blending of two areas intersecting one another. The parcelling out of its shapes made its integration with the landscape possible. Its establishment forms part of a circuit throughout a site where paths extend internally, creating views, such as observation posts towards the surrounding landscape.

HOUSE SG in Balatongyörök, Hungary by Béres Architects

May 24th, 2018 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Béres Architects

The building site is located halfway between the traditional village centre and the “used to be” traditional vineyard area of Balatongyörök, Hungary. Currently this hillside is almost empty and the property is involuntarilly becoming a focal point of the surroundings.

“We had a chance to create a house that could send a message to the future investors of the area. Whisper something about simplicity, calmness and local values.” – Attila Béres says.

Sunny Apartment is located in Taichung, one of the typical units of Taiwanese housing.

In original plan, light and ventilation of public space were blocked by rooms, only the south has an opening. It was far from the ideal home we expected.
