Troll Hus in Norden, California by Mork-Ulnes Architects

May 21st, 2016 by Sanjay Gangal

Article source: Mork-Ulnes Architects

The concept

Tucked away in the mountains and nestled into a high alpine forest, the design responds to the owners’ desire for a modernist, rather secluded refuge with a constant visual reference to nature. The site is, in this sense, rather atypical to a mountain setting in that it minimizes expansive lookouts, while in fact emphasizing views towards the glade intimacy of the adjacent landscape, thus allowing for the remote and sheltered retreat the clients were seeking.

Art in every aspect of space in Athens, Greece by Golden Ratio Collective Architecture

May 20th, 2016 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Golden Ratio Collective Architecture

In the region of Kifissia, a three-storey house is renovated and decorated proposing a new lifestyle. Linear blinds act as a unifying element of space, while individual functional units are formed: espresso point, breakfast, living room. Boundaries are expanding due to the view of the garden and the surrounding area, where a swimming-pool is going to be constructed. Textures, colors and shapes are being juxtaposed, creating a game of contrasts and reflections. Warm wooden textures and smooth vertical surfaces co-exist, giving space a unique identity. Horizontal leather blinds filter natural light and determine outdoor views, allowing space to evolve during the day.

Casa SE in Jalisco, México by Elías Rizo Arquitectos

May 20th, 2016 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Elías Rizo Arquitectos

Casa SE was built in a traditionally residential quarter located in the western parts of Guadalajara. It was commissioned as a permanent home for a family of 4 adults. The primordial drive behind the project was to create comfortable spaces and to allow them to establish their own dialogue with the outside through a series of private terraces. The program is accommodated in two levels, with the first floor encompassing the public areas of the house, and the second floor containing the dormitories and various terraces. The prevalence of windows throughout the envelope allows a great deal of daylight to flood the interiors.

BUONA BOCCA Winebar in Beijing, China by STUDIO RAMOPRIMO

May 20th, 2016 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: STUDIO RAMOPRIMO

The design for BuonaBocca winebar in Beijing revolves around the use of the brick as central decorative element. We were playing with local cheap materials and with the existing condition of the space to make the most out of it. In particular, we were creating some brick patterns on wall based on our “Hutong Material Catalogue” research that were recently developed for the last edition of Beijing Design Week 2015. We were also designing logo and V.I., customized furniture and two large geometric custom-made chandeliers to evoke the surprise and festivity feeling of the town festivals in south of Italy.

Triangulo Corona in Naucalpan, Mexico by ARQMOV

May 20th, 2016 by Sumit Singhal

Article source:  ARQMOV

Triangulo Corona is located in the State of Mexico on the outskirts of the metropolitan area of Mexico City, on a property of irregular topography crossed by two major regional thoroughfares. Its context is an industrial zone rich in the so called ‘maquiladoras’ and storehouses, neighbouring primary and intermediate schools, a health centre and street markets.  The residential environment is one of self-construction, where materials appear in their raw state, devoid of finishes, a quality that defines the architecture and environment of this low-income area.
