The Goose Hut Bistro in Beijing, China by Golucci Interior Architects

Article source: Golucci Interior Architects

Goose Hut, as the name suggests, is the home of geese. Actually, it also implies the people’s habitat of life. As an old Chinese saying goes, geese fly to their home as people returning home. Returning home, the instinct and nature, shared by both geese and human beings, is contained in the name – ‘Goose Hut Bistro’.

Maybe you do not know the Goose Hut Bistro, you will certainly feel her warmth and sincerity as long as you stepping into the restaurant. We set a distinct position for the goose hut bistro at the beginning of our design.

Stand Sauleda in Stuttgart, Germany by dom arquitectura

April 26th, 2018 by Sumit Singhal

The loom origin

Sauleda, is a century-old company, specialized in all types of fabrics and awnings. They proposed us the challenge of designing a special stand for their annual fair. Studying the history of Sauleda, we were imagining its origins, with people working on those old handmade wooden handcrafted looms, where hundreds of threads crisscrossed. So we asked ourselves how their current clients would react and what would they experience, when they arrived at the fair and found themselves inside of a large loom. Feeling surrounded by threads that intertwine up and down, as if they were participating in the origins and beginnings of a fabric’s production. This is how the main idea and the project of Sauleda’s stand came to be.

H Academy in Datong District, Taipei by CJ STUDIO-ShiChieh Lu

H Academy primarily offers hairdressing courses including hair cutting, dyeing, perming etc. and make-up, nail art additionally. The plan focuses on the teaching process and how the program functions. The teaching consists of academic and practical learning. More complicated activities would be performed in practical learning, so there is only one classroom for academic and two for practical. The hairdressing procedure usually separates into two categories, the primary that takes longer duration and the minor that lasts only temporarily, such as the differences between hair cutting and washing. Thus, space for minor procedure could be shared between two practical classrooms and in turn forms a cycle to each practical classroom. In such specialized relationship of sharing, a lab box that includes washing and perming is embedded between these two classrooms. Eventually, there exists an individual lab box within the interior and becomes “a box within a box” as a layered space.

The House of Sports in Bezons, France by aEa, agence Engasser+associés

How to fit into a site at the heart of an overall restructuring project on a city-wide scale and design an extension on an already very crowded plot of land?

As one consistent entity, the Sports Centre pulls together a large number of elements from different briefs, i.e. an already-existing gymnasium, swimming pool and indoor tennis courts with the creation of a multi-purpose arena, a boxing hall, a bodybuilding hall, two dojos, a football pitch with stands, outdoor tennis courts and a clubhouse.

The new building fits in as a unique wing to the west of the existing L-shaped buildings, unifying the whole in a U configuration.

This creates an inner courtyard, a genuine place to breathe between buildings and a generator of light that unifies all access points.

Mountain Restaurant Björk in Hemavan, Sweden by MURMAN ARKITEKTER AB

The building sits along the top tree line of the slow growing birch trees, beside the ski lift. This is a location that emphasises the buildings relation to the nature, summer and winter. From this site you have a panoramic view of the mountains and the valley to the south.

We wanted to make a landmark and a building that reveals how it is constructed from a distance, a distinctive and unique look that feels natural on the site and at the same time easily constructed with prefabricated parts.

Vitória 225 in Portugal by Paulo Freitas e Maria João Marques Arquitectos, Lda

Article source: Paulo Freitas e Maria João Marques Arquitectos, Lda

In the Historic Center of Porto, an opportunity appears to develop a contemporary dwelling capable of being urbanistically integrated into the morphology of the city. Owned by the same owners as the next-door building, the project was thought out in a way that could create new spaces for extending their own dwelling, as well as adding two new studios. The challenge was to create a building that would adapt to the accentuated gap of the vacant lot located in Rua da Vitória, one of the oldest streets in the city, and to take advantage of the privileged view of the urban landscape of this World Heritage Site.
