About the Design:
“Life in Expressionism” is а residence in which the owners are taken into the world of Art. The name of the project is taken from the art movement Expressionism, because we use Forms and Colors for emotional effect in order to generate moods and ideas.
To live in this place is one emotional experience rather than physical reality. The dominated acute geometric forms provides a feeling of warmth.

Leaning House in Chungpyong, S. Korea by PRAUD

November 6th, 2014 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: PRAUD

The site is close to the Chungpyong Lake and has hilly mountain on the back and view towards to the lake in front. As most of sites on hills in Korea, Leaning House site also has a mismatch between topography and orientation. Therefore, one of the first things to solve was the siting of the house in the position where it can have southern sunlight as well as view towards the lake. The southern part of the program box is lifted up so that the house can get enough sunlight from the South while the house itself orients to the East following the topography of the site. By lifting the box up, a new space was gained where Glass Box for family room can be inserted.

Complete renovation, wooden structural extensions on brick ensemble, green roofs to harvest rainwater, windmills and solar chimneys to light and provide natural ventilation. Classrooms are upstairs; the architecture brings in natural light, allowing for use of underground levels (-5 m) of the old building. How? A long north-south grassy gardened trough at the base of the courtyard, bordered by a glass passageway connecting reception on the ground floor to the life of the school and the library below. An extensive wooden structure shelters the reception area, covered playground, and gallery. At the north end, staff housing is placed on this wooden structure, above the top of the original building.

Anagram Office in Hauz Khas Enclave, New Delhi by Anagram Architects

November 6th, 2014 by Sumit Singhal

Article source: Anagram Architects

Anagram’s philosophy is reflected in the way the new office is designed. Much larger than the previous establishment, with long, broad tables and open plan spacing, the feeling harks back to the look and feel of the most basic architectural studio, despite the obvious presence of so many computers. The idea is to talk, discuss, debate, and evolve.
